  1. I think Bailey makes all pitchers throw secondary pitches for strikes.
  2. I liked shugart in spring training. Not sure why he did not perform at Worcester
  3. Yorke seems to be hitting well at pirates AAA
  4. Doesn’t Garcia lead all our minor leagues in taters??? I think he has been very consistent against fastballs! Now we see how he adjusts to off speed and breaking balls
  5. Really like Garcia’s swing. This is the level to find out if he can hit off speed and breaking balls. It took Roman a while to figure it out. Three teams in one year is amazing regardless! Is Garcia the most overlooked player in our system this year?????
  6. Anthony - plays every day. Romero and Mayer - spend a lot of time on the DL. Are California kids softer than Florida kids????
  7. I only blame bres-slow for not addressing the lack of depth in our pitching dept. But I think ownership had more to do with that than anything bres-slow did or did not do.
  8. The last three years have seen a fair number of homegrown talent make it to Boston. Pretty impressive stuff
  9. I am probably not as high on the pitching in the lower levels as you. Valero is the only starter I see. But there are a ton of potential major league relievers, if the command and control improves! Next year, I want to see what level each of the 2024 pitching draft class starts the year at!
  10. I think the emphasis across the organization is to throw breaking balls for strikes. Only time will tell if our guys have the ability to develop the command and control needed to develop into major leaguers
  11. Sandlin looked pretty good for the first four innings. But the wheels exploded in the fifth inning. He served up two meatballs. But it could have been more. One pitch can be unhittable and the next a meatball The stuff is good, but the command comes and goes by pitch!
  12. Take out the top 3 and the next group of cespedes, arias, Campbell, blies and Montgomery are not that bad at all
  13. As crazy stacked as Worcester will be , Portland should also have a decent roster next year. Romero Garcia Ravelo Castro B Gonzalez Rosario The hitting depth is off the charts
  14. Anthony - really struggled earlier this year with breaking balls but has seemed to figure it out. Mayer - he struggles with down and in pitches and has never figured it out Teel - Some have said the defense has issues. I have not seen it, but maybe that is why he has not been promoted
  15. The bottleneck is yoshida. A lefty dh with no power or speed. Moving yoshida allows a spot for Anthony and allows Cora to mix and match in the outfield with some decent defensive outfielders
  16. Anthony is no longer grounding out on breaking balls. He is picking up the spin and mashing!!!! Really impressed with his at bats this past week or two
  17. To lose Cassass, story and giota early in the season and still be fighting for a playoff spot is impressive beyond belief. This team has heart and they are competitive to the last out!
  18. Rafeala has to play center field full time. Dude is amazing
  19. Anthony is hitting breaking balls much better now than at the beginning of the year. He could have the sweetest swing of any prospect in the Red Sox minor league system.
  20. We lack quality depth and that is Cora’s biggest concern for the rest of 2024. Houk and crawford are approaching their max innings and their stuff is getting soft and lacking bite. Paxton is throwing batting practice. These next two months are a lot of 7-5 and 9-8 games
  21. Watched Sandlin throw yesterday. His stuff is good! Big league good! He threw a lot of meatballs and was lucky the hitters fouled them! He cleans up the meatballs and his stuff is legit
  22. The lack of depth has been exposed
  23. Why??? He is beyond terrible
  24. I think teel is Boston ready now with the bat! The defense is already better than wong’s! 2025 should be wong and teel behind the plate.
  25. I agree! Duran had a pop gun for an arm. He only works in left field. I think Anthony and rafeala can play center or right field. Abreau has huge upside to be the best bat in the outfield! The problem is 3 of the 4 bat lefty! Anthony is finally starting to figure out breaking balls in Portland. He looks closer to Boston ready every day
