  1. I was all for trading Duran after 2024, but was shot down on here.
  2. Despite losing valuable developmental time due to injury I felt Mayer was further along development wise than KC was, so it wasn’t mostly, because of ST numbers. Mayer appeared healthy, and had played a lot more games with a lot more AB than KC had in the minors, and the same with Anthony. Poo-poo ST numbers, but those numbers have decided opening day roster spots for young players through the years. I said last year that if Grissom would have had a good ST that he would have been the opening day 2B. NO ONE is saying being rushed was the major reason things for KC didn’t work out last year. Pressure of being a rookie, and living up to the contract could have contributed as well. Like I said earlier being sent back down to Woo was not that big a deal, but NOT being called back up was.
  3. Did Mayer, and Anthony being held back have anything to do with service time, and roster construction? There wasn’t any room in the OF, and Masa was shipped off in exile under the ruse he had to get his arm ready to play the OF, and even though he was good enough to DH in ST he didn’t even bat anywhere else.
  4. Agree, and as we have seen the past few years you never have enough good BP arms. Especially in the backend.
  5. ANYONE who knows my post know what I say about all minor leaguers that they are all suspect NO MATTER what they do in the minor leagues UNTIL they produce in a Red Sox uniform,or are traded for someone who does.
  6. I get it you are not, but I think most fans are.
  7. I don’t see the Red Sox trading 2 OF just to accommodate KC, and Anthony is not a CF.
  8. A player STILL without a position, but got the contract, so now they have to find him somewhere to play.🤔
  9. I agree the BP is down the list, but I don’t think you can count on Chapman having the year he had last year again.
  10. I just don’t get why it’s such a big deal using the term rushed even though that was the prevailing opinion at the time on the airwaves, and the print media, and if it was any part of the reason KC didn’t last long up in Boston last year. To me it’s not such a big deal getting sent back down to the minors as it’s been a passage of time for many players throughout the years. To me the bigger deal was that KC never made his way back up to Boston. That was the bigger deal IMO. If it makes some feel better to say he wasn’t rushed then so be it. You could call it like KC did himself when he said it was like him being redshirted like he was in college. In the end I hope KC turns out as good as the Red Sox think he will to give him that contract.
  11. How does that make any difference on if Campbell was rushed, or not,and it wasn’t even a question if others were rushed more, and two completely different situations position, and otherwise.
  12. It’s not just the 10-12 week stretch, which can yes make a big difference, but both Mayer, and Anthony had a lot more minor league games, and AB under their belts, which can make a big difference also. Campbell wasn’t ready, and that’s why he didn’t last long in Boston, or ever come back up.🤔
  13. 2B was the only open spot for KC to try bad D, or not, and that is black, and white.
  14. The bottom line to me is the Red Sox have been desperate for a long time for a 2B, and took the shot with KC ready, or not, and when it was not, and KC was sent down to WOO he was never to return again. IF Grissom would have had a good ST he might have started the season as the Red Sox starting 2B, and KC might have started the season down in WOO like Mayer, and Roman did.
  15. As was he was not ready for prime time. Like I posted earlier the Red Sox HOPED, and took at chance. Every situation is different, and there have been many prospects through the years that have won a job on the opening day roster, because what they did in ST, or didn’t win a job on what they didn’t do in ST. Using KC as an example is just 1 time.
  16. The Red Sox had just gone through 11 2B the year before, and didn’t see any different solutions to the problem, so they gave KC a chance HOPING he was ready, and to justify the contract they were giving him. If they thought he was ready they were wrong, and he was not. Mayer, and Anthony were both called up later on, and were not rushed. Campbell was, and it showed.
  17. You seem to be hung up on what KC did in the Minor Leagues. He didn’t really tear up WOO last year after he went back down there . I’m hung up on what he’s done in a Red Sox uniform, which after a hot start isn’t much. That’s why I keep saying TBD. Suspect? Prospect?
  18. ST tryouts usually depend on the situation at hand, and especially when it comes to rookies trying to make the club in the first place. Lots of suspects have put up numbers in the Minor Leagues, but flamed out once they hit the Majors, so all that counts now is what he can do in the Majors. What he did after April last year is more important than what he did in April IMO. At this point in time I clearly don’t see KC being guaranteed anything this year, especially a spot on the opening day roster in 2026.
  19. Campbell was handed a position on opening day last year even after a not so good ST to help justify that contract When Mayer looked more ready to go IMO. I don’t see KC being handed anything this year, and he’ll have to earn a spot on the roster. He’s still a player without a position.
  20. Then he spent the rest of the year in WOO. Like I said he has to hit to not only get into the lineup, but stay in the lineup. TBD.
  21. Despite his contract KC is still nothing more than a suspect at this point, and time.🙈
  22. KC is TBD. It was pretty much a wasted year for him, and he’s still a player without a position. Mayer can be moved around, and his glove will travel with him, but KC is going to have to hit for him to stick in Boston. Being rushed into the lineup last year after a not so good ST did him no good at all IMO. I guess the Red Sox were trying to show the contract they gave him so soon was warranted. Last year it wasn’t. He may turn it around, and then again he may be another Grissom. As I said TBD.
  23. Yes, another big day for Love, and ND. Carr didn’t have a particular good game today with 2 bad interceptions, and 2 great catches by Fields made Carr look better than he really was. Carr also took a couple of big hits today.
