  1. The Red Sox did not handle Campbell very well last season, and except for a flourish in April he was in pretty much a lost season. I know the big thing with Cora, and the Red Sox is versatility, but not every player can do that, and after all the maneuvers with Campbell last season he’s a player with a contract, but not a position.
  2. Let’s just hope he can escape the bad injury Juju that has enveloped Fenway the past 5 years, or so something that Sale, or Gio couldn’t do.
  3. The Red Sox are going to make a big move at the deadline?🤭🤫
  4. I guess I’m just tired of the 1-2 years rentals.
  5. The money chipped in is the best part of the deal, but I’m still not counting on much more from Gray than what Gio gave the Red Sox though even after all the stats that have been thrown out there.
  6. The only thing matters is what he’ll do this year. He’ll pitch maybe half his games at Fenway with a not so stellar D most likely behind him, and he’ll also have to face the Yankees 3-4 times this year with whom he got rocked against in his only start last year. He’ll also be a year older. Until I see it I’m not counting on Gray to put up any better numbers than what Gio did last year. ST. Louis wanted to get rid of him so bad they chipped in $20M to do it.
  7. 7 yrs is a long time especially for a pitcher.
  8. How will Sonny handle pitching in Boston? Pitching in Fenway with a not so great D behind him? Pitching in the AL east specifically against the Yankees?
  9. Nothing to back it up, but speculation that with Devers in those 89 games with Roman in a bunch of those games that the Red Sox would have scored more runs than they scored without Devers. I would also add that with Raffy’s past history against the Yankees that he might not only have made a difference, but the difference in the postseason. Roman shouldn’t have been a replacement for Devers, but an addition to Devers IMO.
  10. I would say 2021 was the outlier, and not 2025. 22-24 was a struggle to get to 500, which they finally did in 24, but 22-23 was losing last place in the division teams.🤮
  11. Seems I heard SHAM used quite often on here the past few years, because of that very reason.
  12. Yes Devers was a loss that definitely showed up in the postseason against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. Yes the Red Sox had a better record after Raffy left town that you attribute to to the better record, but as been discussed on here more than once that the Red Red Sox having the better record after Raffy left had a lot more to do with the good starting pitching for an extended period of time especially from Crochet, Gio, and Bello. The Red Sox would have had a lot better chance of beating the Yankees in the postseason with Raffy in the lineup IMO.
  13. All I know spotrac list $30M for 2027 with a $25M LT.
  14. Isn’t the option $30M for 2027? The $10M only comes in if the option isn’t picked up.
  15. Bailey is not going to teach an old dog like Gray at this point in his career new tricks. He tried doing that with Buehler.
  16. Time will tell if Gray gives you much more, or anything more than what Gio did last year. Even though it was 7-8 years ago Gray did not pitch very well in his two years as a Yankee. Gray also got rocked in his only start against the Yankees this past year.
  17. If you like another stop gap, which exactly what this is at this point then fine.
  18. I get your point, but to me if the Red Sox don’t acquire a solid#2, or a couple of big bats will be, because they really don’t want to, because of the money involved, or giving up a live body, or two.
  19. Someone younger, and better was directed as Kelley as a #2. Now if someone better, and younger was signed as a #2 Kelley would be fine further down the totem pole. Sandoval, Eary, or Tolle are no sure things to be in the rotation to start the season, but as we’ve seen the last few years 10 starters might not be enough to get through the season.
  20. Like I’ve said before that the length of Bregman’s first contract with the Red Sox was the right length to me, and anything longer would be really stretching things.
  21. Outside of Cro Man, and Bello there are no other starters locked into the rotation at this early juncture. So many different possibilities.
  22. Don’t look too much into Ryan dropping off last year. Minnesota was a sinking ship. Being with a team in a pennant race like the Red Sox, and it might have been a different story. Bregman might of dropped off at the end, but he got off to a fast start, so he just ended up somewhere near where he should have at the end. Don’t put so much into his start, and the same for the finish. End result is what matters. He’s not a 300 hitter.
