  1. I’m in the I’ll believe it when I see it mode. Raffy was a special case being homegrown, and the last man standing after Bogey, and Mookie left, and even then they probably had to pry JH hands off his checkbook.
  2. Yes the $200M, and only 8 years at the time would have been a good deal both in money, and length.
  3. The $300M was at the end. What about before that when Mookie, and his mother said no? Didn’t Mookie go to arbitration at one time? The Red Sox haggled with Mookie all the way through. Was that all JH?
  4. The ND game was even closer than the final score, but BC through the years has given ND fits at times. Not a great showing, but ND should move up a couple slots.
  5. Yes it’s always Henry, but DD is not completely blameless in the Mookie saga IMO either.
  6. The Red Sox were always a day late, and a dollar short, and that was under DD.
  7. Mookie wasn’t much help in this years WS, but the Dodgers won, and Mookie won ring #4. 3 rings in six years with the Dodgers is not to shabby, and I hope he wins another 3, or 4. CONGRATS to Mookie, and the Dodgers.
  8. The reason I mentioned deals is I believe the Red Sox would like to fill out the positions from within as much as they can.
  9. Devers got 10, but how much arm twisting do you think it took to get JH to do it. As I’ve said many times Raffy was the last man standing after losing Mookie, and Bogey.
  10. I go on the assumption that the Red Sox would like to make the least amount of deals, and spend the least amount of money they possibly can to make the Red Sox a competitive , and winning team kind of like what they’ve done at the trade deadline the past few years. I think they knew Bregman would just be a 1 yr deal, and then they would reevaluate after that, which is where the Red Sox are at now. I’ll have to see it, before I believe anything different.
  11. Do you think DD consults BTV? I don’t believe the Red Sox would have Any interest in Cast Man, and Harper has to much time left on his contract.
  12. I fully understand the wanting to get rid of Hicks, and Masa both in body, and contract, but I just don’t see it happening. That’s all.
  13. I understand how the whole thing works, but I really don’t see how the Phillies would be better off with Masa, and Hicks than with Harper. I understand Hicks was a salary dump for SF to get Raffy.
  14. Lots of times I post what I think the Red Sox will do, and not what I would like to see them do. I would like to see the Red Sox sign both Flintstone, and Alonso, but I see zero chance of that happening. I guess I’m in a I’ll believe it when I see it mode, so I’ll just wait ,and see how it all turns out. Brez has proven he’s not afraid to make a move, so I expect something to happen, but just not to big.
  15. There is always this taking back Masa, and Hicks on here, and I see very little chance that any team out there would take one let alone both of them. I’ve seen all kinds of predictions out there for Alonso from 3-4 yrs to 7 yrs. I also don’t see Harper going anywhere.
  16. It’s how the Red Sox see it that counts. I think the Red Sox see it as why spend if you don’t have to. You see as what you would want to see, and the Red Sox are going see it the way they look at things, and most likely they are not going to be the same.
  17. I don’t think he would come cheap, and I believe to many years left on that contract for the Red Sox taste.
  18. I would say something like this would be more likely than some of the other options I’ve seen thrown out there.
  19. I’ve seen all kinds of different options thrown out there on what the Red Sox should do, but I still don’t see the Red Sox signing any big FA contracts for anyone unless it’s a Bregman type signing, or for Bregman himself. If Bregman leaves it wouldn’t surprise me at all that Mayer takes over at 3B, and the rest of the positions are filled from within. What’s the plan for KC? He’s got a contract, so now they have to find him a place to play. A trade for pitching is more likely than a FA signing.
  20. I doubt they deal Hicks, because I don’t see anyone else wanting him, and he was a salary dump for SF. If Campbell gets traded I don’t think it would be, because he was rushed up to Boston, and struggled after early success. He’s a man without a position, and if traded hopefully the trade brings back pitching.
  21. I agree on this. If the Red Sox get Bregman to stay hopefully no more than 4 years I think that would be the extent of anymore high money expenditures. Bichette’s contract most likely would be to long, and expensive.
  22. I think the starting pitching especially Crochet, Bello, and Gio being good over an extended period of time had a lot more to do with the winning record than Devers leaving.
  23. Fortunately, or unfortunately whatever the case may be you can’t make the deal for both sides, and I don’t see Bloom making that trade at all.
  24. Would you make that deal if you were STL? You probably spend more time trying to unload Hicks, and Masa than Brez does. I get it, but i don’t believe there are to many takers out there that want either Masa, or Hicks let alone both even if they save some money, or not.
  25. It’s not just relying on so many young players, but relying on them to be good, which most likely all will not turn out as good as many on here have been dreaming about for years now. Mookie, Bogey, and Raffy all won championships playing for the Red Sox, and all turned out being good players. How many of the current crop of youngsters will be as good, and how many of championships will they win? Time will tell. Anything short of Championships after all the hype will be a failure IMO. Casas, and Mayer has broken down at early ages, which isn’t a good sign.
