  1. How is to early to tell writing them off? You guys get all excited about any Suspect that shows any kind of life in the Minors. I on the other hand to not until say it with me now until they produce in a Big league uniform, or are traded for someone who does.
  2. Whitlock has an arm for a late inning BP guy, which is where I said he should have stayed after the 2021 season. Bard also should have stayed in the BP. Not all good arms are meant to be starters. Unless you’re Hicks of course.
  3. I get that, but just, because they are cheap doesn’t mean they are going to be that good. I believe that’s why Houck, and Whit were put into the rotation when they did, and why despite Whit kept getting injured they kept him in the rotation, because he was a cheap option.
  4. We agree.👍
  5. OMG! You telling me that it’s changed today that after 35 combined innings of two pitches that you can tell already if they are going to be any good, or not? 🙈👋
  6. How about the infamous Billy Rohr in 1967. His first start he came within 1 out of a no hitter against the Yankees, and then his next start pitched a per complete game against the Yankees allowing 1 run, and then was really not heard from much after that.
  7. Exactly. It’s to early to tell if they are going to be any good, or not, or even more should be untouchable.
  8. How the pitchers do on the mound distinguishes how good your rotation is, and how good that particular pitcher is.. Not the number assigned to them. As I’ve asked before do you before a game look at the matchup that particular day, and say we got a #4 going against their #2? You should already know who the better pitcher is. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with it, but just not needed for me.
  9. To me numbering starters 1-5 is overthinking it in the first place. To you really have to assign a number to someone to help tell they might be better than another?🤭🤫
  10. I was specifically talking about Tolle, and Early not being untouchable, and not necessarily trading for any one player. NO they are not Lester, or anything close after 35 innings. In other words still SUSPECTS at this point despite some thinking otherwise at this point.🙈
  11. Early, and Tolle untouchable? They’ve got 35 career innings between them. I would think they are far from untouchable. Hurst, and Lester they are Not after throwing such few innings, and may not ever be, so wheel em, and deal em.🤭
  12. Bloom did, and Brez has followed in his footsteps.🙈
  13. In other words. Throttle Up!
  14. It just seems to me that the Red Sox have wasted millions of dollars the past five years on pitches that did even throw 1 inning in a given season. Some they knew wouldn’t, and some they didn’t know.
  15. 2021-2022 was a long time ago, and I noticed you left out 2023-2024. It still a waste of $18M to me.
  16. For all the talk of the budget that happens on here, and how much the Red Sox have to spend Sandoval was a Big Waste of $18M to me.
  17. Which past stats led the Red Sox to sign this guy in the first place injured, or not injured?🤔
  18. It just amazes me on the fixation that everyone has on numbering starting pitches in the first place, and then spend countless hours debating what each number means like in the big scheme of things it means anything. There are many different ways to measure how good a starting pitcher is stat wise, but how they rank 1-5 isn’t one of them. The most important thing that can happen when a starter pitches is if the team wins the game, or not even if his stats, are good, or bad for that game. I asked this question last year if on game day you sit, and analyze if you have a #2 pitcher going against a #4 pitcher, or a #3 pitcher going against a #5 pitcher, and so on, and so on? You can pretty much tell if one pitcher is better, or worse than another pitcher with out them being assigned any number to them.🤔🤭
  19. What a sham College football is. I don’t get how a coach under contract from one school can be contacted from another school, and then hire that coach away when the present season isn’t even over yet. A college has to honor a contract to a coach, and to me it should have to work both ways.
  20. It could, but I didn’t know that Bregman, and Alonso were being touted as the second best pitches.🤭
  21. I don’t hate the trade at all, but I’m just that not excited that Gray will produce anymore results than what Gio did, which isn’t bad, but just not an improvement. You can throw out all the stats they have available, and Gray may be the second best pitcher on paper, but until he produces on the field everything else is useless.
  22. I buy the whole playing in Boston thing 100%. Some thrive playing in the Boston experience, and some do not.
  23. Even though it was 7-8 years ago Gray was a Big flop in his two years with the Yankees. Last year Gray got rocked in his only start against the Yankees, and could face them 3-4 times next year. Gray could also pitch half his games at Fenway where he hasn’t fared very well in his seven games (6)starts that only consist of 26+ innings, and his career ERA pitching in Fenway is the worst except 1 other park. Gray may be an upgrade over Gio, but then again he might not winding up being so. At this point he is nothing to get excited about for me. Time will tell.
  24. I wonder if JH feels the same way seeing he shelled out $60M for Gio, and Buehler who didn’t pitch 2 full seasons for the Red Sox?🤔
  25. I agree, and that contract put extra pressure on KC IMO.
