  1. It was still crazy that everyone didn’t play the same amount of games.
  2. I can still see Louie Apprecio tripping over the 3B BAG.
  3. The Sox lost 2 out of 3 to Detroit on the last weekend of the season, but for MLB to not have everybody play the same amount of games is still mind boggling after all these years.
  4. Let’s remember that JD did not have his binky ( iPad) in 2020, and really seemed to affect him. He is on the way down, but I think he’s still good for 90-100 RBI, but not a 300 hitter anymore.
  5. All true. We were never close in 1967, because they had Gibson, and came close in 75 against the Big Red Machine, but Rice being out hurt that year, and the Bucky F’n Dent shot in 78, so it did take a long time.
  6. I think for a lot of people that just getting there in the WS, and taking the Cardinals to 7 games, and losing to the great Bob Gibson was good enough.
  7. I get where you are coming from, but I just don’t think the 2020 season can be compared to anything in recent memory, because it was a season like nothing before. You don’t need my permission, but you’re welcome.
  8. But they played 102 more games this year, and last season you can’t compare to anything even though you do it. I don’t believe they have never had a 24 win season before except for last year, and that’s why you can’t compare it to anything else, but I guess it makes you feel better, so go for it.
  9. That’s what made 1967 so special, because of what came before, and what came after, and what Red Sox Nation is now.
  10. But you keep leaving out the most important fact. They only played 60 games last year. I repeat 60 games last year in a season that really wasn’t a season. You can’t compare any season in recent times to what last year was.
  11. Won 24 games a year ago? The team sucked, but they only played 60, and this years team did not have all the scrap heap players that played last year. Not a good comparison between the 20, and 21 teams nor were the circumstances that the games were played. Comparing the 2020 season to anything is scraping the bottom of the barrel, and to top it all off JD got his binky back this year, which he was lost without it last year.
  12. The 1967 team didn’t win the WS, because they faced a guy named Bob Gibson who pitched 3 complete games against them, and only gave up 3 runs. I don’t know if the Red Sox ever had a team that could have beat him unless it was one of Ted’s teams. Over glorified? 1967 was the start of Red Sox Nation, and brought life back to Fenway that had been pretty dead for years.
  13. And yes I’d take Dick Williams over Cora.
  14. The 1967 team were pretty much a very young team with Yaz being the old guy at 28, and had to face a guy named Bob Gibson. They didn’t have a Raffy, JD, or Bogey going into that season, or. EO, or E Rod for that matter, but you can ride with your team, and I’ll ride with mine.
  15. Now I’ve heard it all when you call Max brilliant, and genius, so that just demeans saying it about Cora. Max just likes to polish a turd.
  16. The best part of that 1967 team was that it was mostly home grown.
  17. What don’t I get? When you say brilliant, and genius, and Cora has made less mistakes than any other manager in baseball this year without any facts to back that up I just think it’s way over the top. I get it you think he’s the best there is, and best there ever was, but I just don’t think there is any way to rate someone to give them that distinction.
  18. Do you think the third time through is because the batter is seeing the pitcher for the third time, or do you think it is because of the pitch count, and the pitcher is wearing down, or a combination of both?
  19. Nothing to be ashamed of. Just over the top with that brilliant genus stuff. I don’t get into the rah rah stuff, or awards for that matter.
  20. Pom poms, and all. Cora’s head cheerleader.
  21. I don’t know why so many on here thought this wasn’t going to be a good team this year. Based on last year when the team sucked? They had a good 2-5 in the order with Duggie, Boggey, Raffy, and JD, and they picked up some spare parts. E Rod was coming back, and Sale was to at some point to go with EO, so that doesn’t sound like a bad team to me. You have to throw 2020 right out the window as a season when JD lost his binky ipad, and pretty much quit. This wasn’t a magical carpet ride. 1967 was a magical carpet ride.
  22. I’m not saying that Cora doesn’t, and shouldn’t get any credit, but I just think it’s over the top to say he’s a genius, or brilliant, and have only herd that on here.
  23. I’m only saying that pitching moves to me are the most important decisions a manager has to make anymore with the way the game is played today, and I already mentioned that Cora did not make the bats go silent. There are more pitching moves made than anything else in a game, series, or a season.
  24. You’re right about some of the talk shows, and Felgar, and Mas are the worst, but I listen to quite a few, and I haven’t heard one of the fans say that Cora was a brilliant genius. Not one where on here its common place. I find that very entertaining.
