  1. What these 5 get will have a lot to do with what Bogey will want.
  2. Agree, and this could be a long drawn out process, and wouldn’t surprise it goes into spring training, or beyond.
  3. I’m with you on that, and pitching is the biggest need.
  4. Lots of hopes, and wishes, but after listening to Sam Kennedy the other day I See the Sox doing things the way they did last off season, which is no big signings, and more Rule 5, and bargain basement shopping. I would be surprised if E Rod gets resigned, or Schwaber for that matter unless JD opts out. Bogey getting an extension I think is pretty much up in the air, but no way if he wants his 20 million increased to around 30 million. Same with Raffy, which I don’t see any 10 yr 300 million contracts for anybody in the Sox future. Just my opinion, and I hope I’m wrong on this.
  5. Good assessment.
  6. Ellsbury was a costly mistake by the Yankees, but I would had rather kept Lester than signed Price.
  7. I actually forgot about Pedroia, but Bogey wasn’t a FA at the time, so it’s not quite the same. The point was that the Sox have not had a good history of resigning their own players, and then over compensated with players they did sign like Price, and the big Sandman.
  8. When you think about it who have the Red Sox re signed? Damon- no Ellsbury- no Lester- no Mookie- BIG no Bogey? Raffy ?? Did I miss any?
  9. Just like with Bogey. Do you let him play out his contract, and get nothing but a pick, or do you trade him while his value is the highest with 2 years left now. They could have gotten more for Mookie if they would have traded him 1 year earlier, and especially since they knew they wasn’t going to be able to re sign him.
  10. Money will be the deciding factor, and a tough decision it will be, but a even tougher decision will be rather to trade him, or not if they can’t work out a deal.
  11. I pretty much agree with what you said. Raffy is still young, and should get even better, but I just don’t see it happening for 8-12 yrs. I could see something like Bogey got, but for a little more money, but I don’t think that would work for Raffy. I don’t know what Raffy would get his next two arb years, but Mookie got 20, and 27. It’s a tough call.
  12. Ok now the next question is do you really think JH will shell out that kind of money for that long a time?
  13. How much money you talking about?
  14. I agree 100%, but I don’t like any $300 million contracts no matter who the player is.
  15. I think it will be the same kind of signings as this past off season with no big names coming Boston’s way.
  16. To sign him to a multi year contract will not be cheap, and the longer you wait the more expensive it will get.
  17. I hope you are right, but I don’t see JH shelling out any $300 million contracts.
  18. I just don’t see the Red Sox opening up their wallets for anybody. They didn’t for Mookie, but they knew he didn’t want to sign anyways, but I don’t see any big money offers being made to Bogey, or Raffy either, so the question is do you play another year with both, and let Bogey walk, or do you trade them both, and get what you can in return. I just don’t see another David Price contract, or bigger in the near future for the Sox.
  19. Your right about Mays, and I thought I was responding to another poster. If JBJ could have just hit a little better he might have stayed in Boston longer.
  20. A guy named Mays was pretty good too.
  21. I didn’t see Piersall, and maybe some on here have, but I heard he was pretty good.
  22. Rick Miller was pretty good, but Lynne was better, and JBJ was better than Lynne. Don’t mistake diving catches with being good, or great. Some get a better jump on the ball, and don’t get as many diving catches. Even your guy Tommy made lots of diving catches.
  23. Kike did a good job in CF, but I don’t think I would call him the best CF the Sox have ever had. Piersall, and Lynne were pretty good not to mention JBJ.
  24. Tommy added some excitement to the Sox who didn’t have much speed, and could steal a few bases, which was a big part of the game back then.
  25. And to think the Sox almost ended up with that Fraud.
