What’s the holdup with this? If it’s because Tapia isn’t on the 40? s***, or get off the pot as they say. This shouldn’t be that tough of a decision. Unless one of the OF get hurt, or really suck I can’t see much platooning going on, so the 4th, or 5th OF won’t play much anyway.

I just don’t like the constant jerking around. If the plan was to make Houck a FT starter I could see, but I don’t think the plan once, and if all the starters are healthy is for Houck to stay there. Of course I’ve always been a proponent of keeping Whit in the pen too.

If Whit, and Bello come back, and assuming Kluber, and Sale is still healthy, which is a big if I would think Paxton would be the odd man out.

Houck is just a stopgap in the rotation right now until Whit, and Bello gets back.

Duvall has never been a full time CF, and never really played there until 2021, so he only has 75 career games there, so we’ll have to see at now 34 how he handles that.

Don’t they have to make a decision on Alfaro today on if to keep him, or not, and Monday on Tapia?

The Kut Man did have a good stretch last year, and it may be just a short stint now, but more likely than not he’ll get another one before the season is over.

Yes The best thing about him is he shows up for every start, and you can’t say that about many others the last few years for the Sox.

Interesting that even with Bello, and Whit out that Pivetta the only guy still around, and reliable enough to take the mound every 5th day good, or bad the last two years is still #5.

It does seems weird, and it seems like Bloom just takes the easiest at the time options instead of what would be the best fit.

Duvall in CF, and Dugy in RF in Fenway are not going to chase down a lot of balls.

I understood the conversation, but like I stated yesterday, and again today i don’t think Bloom is all that concerned about the best defensive alignment like posters are on here.

Bloom for some reason must have thought it was better or easier to sign an OF, which in this case Duvall than to get another SS once Story went down. I don’t really like Duvall in CF, but that’s the way Bloom has done it. Either way I don’t think if Kike plays SS, or in CF is going to make, or break the Red Sox season. Kike is just a stopgap no matter where he plays, and no one knows if he can play SS full time, which he has never done before, but like I said like it, or not this decision is on Bloom.

Story having surgery definitely changed the Red Sox plans especially taking Kike out of CF. I don’t think Rafaela was in their plans for this year unless he really lights it up in the minors. Dugy in RF in Fenway I agree is not ideal.

Arroyo I believe was going to get the first shot as the 2B regardless of an injury to Story, or not, so when Story got injured, and by reports that he was planned on being the SS nothing changed for Arroyo, but as you said those nagging injuries always catch up to him. Plan B is most likely to happen at some point.

I’m not saying Story wasn’t good, but only that Arroyo is no big drop off, and turns the DP better.
