  1. You don’t think a bigger haul could be had now from some serious contender who may think he could put them over the top?
  2. Like I said by the time the Red Sox made their final offer it was way too late. If Bloom was legit he was incompetent.
  3. Legit tried to resign Bogey? Was it that one year ext added on to his current contract offer at the time your first clue? By the time the Red Sox made their final offer it was WAY to late. Bloom could NOT read the room.
  4. Was that before, or after he slapped Bogey across the face with that lowball contract ext offer.
  5. Well said, and Bogey should still be here. I know many have crowned Mayer as the next chosen one, but he may never accomplish ALL that Bogey did in a Red Sox uniform.
  6. Story had a bad arm when he was signed by the Red Sox, and things have gone downhill from there. Bogey wasn’t worth the contract he got from SD, but he would have been worth a better contract from DD in the first place, so he might have had just another year, or two to run.
  7. Most have, but I was one of the few who kept preaching to wait until Mar 28 to see what the team looked like, and then to see what happened from there.
  8. Nothing can change the three losing last place in the division finishes under Bloom. Unfortunately the Red Sox did that.
  9. What’s up with the poster who yelled sham, sham, sham at the top of his lungs all offseason. Not hearing much on that front.
  10. I’m not talking about any rentals, and none of the big three May never turn out to be a Bagwell.
  11. I agree that I don’t think any big trades of a top prospect will be done at this deadline, but after this all bets should be off IMO.
  12. NOBODY should be untouchable if a trade makes the Red Sox better. You need to trade something good to get something good. Especially pitching.
  13. Agree with most, but I wouldn’t go so far on the brain trust. I’m not sold on Brez at all, but may change my mind in two weeks. Then again I might not. Watching that road very closely to see which direction they take.
  14. I don’t know if getting Brez was lucky, but more like addition by subtraction.
  15. That may have been part of it, but I think the Braves came to the Red Sox as they had been interested in Sale before, and made an offer of a suspect at a position the Red Sox had a need for. Supposedly Bloom had offers for Sale, but wouldn’t agree. Brez wanted Gio, and couldn’t quite afford both, and made the deal.
  16. Especially rich kids.
  17. Like I said before I think the Red Sox are just an old toy to him that isn’t as fun to play with anymore.
  18. I agree, but like I’ve been saying for the last few years is that this is not the same JH today as when he first bought the team. This is not the same JH that went to the Felger, and Mazz show ten years ago to defend the Way the Red Sox are being run, but is now the JH in an interview just the other day didn’t even want to talk about the Red Sox.
  19. Seriously? You don’t think JH cares about all that dead money that it would give him pause to spend anymore?
  20. Either way JH is shelling out $35M this year, and Nothing is going to change that.
  21. I haven’t heard anyone is happy with the high ticket prices, and not having a top ten payroll. As Max as pointed out many times though JH is shelling out a lot of dead money.
  22. Well said Max, and agree 100%. I’m sure JH is not happy about shelling out that $35M either.
  23. His portfolio is more important to him IMO. The Red Sox are just an old toy to him now.
  24. There is no way to know, but it’s possible that had been buyers the last two years instead of mostly sitting on the outside looking in the Red Sox May be in better shape today. Yes it’s also possible the other way also. No moves ever have to be just rentals like Flintstone Schwarber was.
  25. Exactly they spent. I’ve heard all along how the Red Sox saved $10M on Sale, which they did, but spent $18M on Gio, which I don’t know would have happened without that $10M being saved, but in the long run they ended up paying $35M for the two of them. That’s spending more money not saving.
