    Sale Improved to 12-3 last night. Only made it through 5.1 after throwing 100 pitches with 9K’s, and 2ER on 5 hits.

    I get that point. To me every game counts, and it’s still to early to focus on standings except for the trade deadline coming up. The schedule really gets tougher after the AS break.

    Unfortunately the Red Sox play better on the road than they do at home. They also pitch a lot better on the road.

    The starting rotation will definitely be the key for the rest of the season just as they have been pretty much all year. I’m not big on Wink there, and Criswell is pretty much the only other option without any additions.

    I think it was a lot more than joking all offseason about the full throttle comment. I don’t know how many times we heard Sham, sham, sham. That was no joke.

    Like I said previously. The reason there is so much talk about Sale is, because of the way things have worked out, which couldn’t be much worse for the zRed Sox at this point. Gio was hurt before throwing 1 inning, and Grissom has been hurt not once, but twice, and was ineffective when he did play. Sale on the other hand is having a CY type season, and good for him. The Red Sox are also paying out $35M to two pitchers that aren’t pitching for them, or not pitching at all. At the moment the Red Sox are not only playing good, but good enough at this point to be in the postseason, and the Red Sox could sure use Sale in the rotation right now. Grissom may come back at some point, and contribute, and Sale could end up injured again, but who knows.

    Sale will be starting his 17th game tonight, and supposedly his 18th Sun. Both Houck, and Kut Man have started 18 games, and will both start their 19th game before Sunday to put in perspective.

    The manager said they brought someone up to give all their starters an xtra day leading into the AS break, but seems like a last minute decision. Said Sale will pitch again Sunday.

    Sale didn’t get a three year contract from the Braves. He got a two year contract with a club option for a third year. He was due $27.5M this year, but $10M of that was to be deferred to 2039. Now he gets $16M this year, which is actually a pay cut, and the Red Sox are paying the Braves $17M, so it’s a free deal for the Braves. Next year the Braves pay him $22M, so Sale ends up with $38M guaranteed instead of $27.5M guaranteed, which $10M was deferred until 2039.

    He actually didn’t pitch last night, and was pushed back until today.

    Congrats to the three Red Sox All-Stars. Especially Duran who went from The Butterfly Man to an All-Star. Quite the turnaround, and well deserved.

    It will be interesting to see how he pitches tonight now that he’s further along into the season.

    Yes hindsight now says they could have done something with Houck, and a contract. He can’t become a FA untill the 2028 season when he will be 32, so I don’t know if you want to buy out his 3 ARB years with a couple more years added. He’s been better than good so far, but I still want to see how he finishes out the season

    Sales last 5 starts had been 6-7 days apart, but I don’t know if that’s the schedule, or not. He pitches tonight on the 5th day.
