  1. Weissert has become the surrender option for Cora
  2. McGuire has outlived his usefulness. OPS below .600. He should have bunted the 3-0 pitch, Rockies were back in standard positions. Starting to smell bad here
  3. The losing W-L records in previous year "second" halves should be unrelated from one to the next , but clearly something happens to this team over the break that causes them to lose the ability to close things out.
  4. Apparently , that would be a challenge with a difficulty level of 10
  5. Bullpen ERA since the A-S break is too much to calculate
  6. Dodgers game all the f*** over again. Cannot get 3 outs without a HR and Wong's drive to the deepest part of the park is just short by 2 '
  7. Dom Smith with a huge PH. Raffy gets PR Abreu home with sac fly. Now just a shutdown 10th wins it.
  8. The home field advantage. Rockies have 6 total outs to get a run, Sox have 3 left in regulation. Going to need a 9th inning HR by the boys
  9. Wong f***s Beeks. Sounds funny but once a Boston pitcher, always a Boston pitcher, Jalen
  10. Needed to get that 5th and now 6th run . Might be a challenge
  11. Wink gets robbed on strike 3 and then gives up the 2 out 2-2 run scoring double. Now well over 20 pitches . He has the serious issue of inability to throw a shutdown pitch. Low velocity, FB up in the zone, not much horizontal or vertical movement. Does exactly enough to get the team in a deficit.
  12. #9 hitter Skunk giving Houck a spray, and then Tanner wants no part of Charlie Blackmon
  13. That inning could have been huge but Raffy got stiffed on a great play and Cedanne hit an At'em ball with 2 on to ground out
  14. Can Houck hold it right here ? Still allowing runners , needs a DP Got the K/Throw'em out DP. Sox can win this
  15. Duran with his triple and Ref with a 2 out RBI hit tie it up. The game was still winnable at 4-0 in Colorado, so let's win it just for grins
  16. If Jamie Westbrook was in better shape and not carrying that gut , he could probably be hitting 3 run Jacks
  17. They really needed 7 or 8 innings from Houck tonight. He is at 53 pitches after 3, and looking very hittable. The thinner air doesn't let his slider break as much.
  18. Well, when it goes to pot , it all goes to pot. Houck ineffective tonight and once again, the team cannot hit a LH'er. Two of the hits were blind luck or a swinging bunt. But the Hr wasn't. If all other teams left on the schedule employ LH'ers it is possible to never win another game.
  19. I heard the Dodgers DFA'ed Paxton today. Thanks for pitching him this weekend, LAD. Do we need Paxton redux ?
  20. A series win must be the minimum, and a sweep would help significantly clean up the Dodger losses. Expecting another quality start from Tanner. Not sure what Crawford did over the break but he was groovin' it yesterday.
  21. It has been better because of the progress and maturation of some players ( Duran, Houck ,Crawford) and the chance to see some of the young guys ( Rafaela, Hamilton , Abreu) to see where they may fit in. OTH, they young guys are in the games because several presumed starters were significantly injured. Can't have it all cake and ice cream.
  22. Internally they did know. According to Cora, he had discussed this with Kenley even before the season started . Is there any evidence of the FO assisting in some way especially after Slaten and Martin got sore elbows several days ago? Not apparent to the FANS if Breslow planned on this shortfall.
  23. Who knew Jansen couldn't go to Colorado for heart health reasons, leaving the Red Sox short yet another reliever in a critical series. And cannot call up another without making a corresponding demotion, maybe like Weissert
  24. For once, I am with you , Max
  25. Still debating the Ruth sale, Moon ? Almost as bad as Anderson for Bagwell, lol. The sale of Ruth's contract for No No Nanette funding, still characterizes the long term ownership of this franchise. The question is, how long does the JH administration under 4 CBO's and 4 WS titles carry the franchise forward. My Dad went to college in Boston in 1941 before becoming a Naval Aviator in WW 2 and waited until 2004, like many of us here to win it all again. Believe me, you do not want to wait another 86 years in a 30 team league to show the Red Sox are the best team.
