Nice to see ( late arrival) that Bullpen Burner Bello came through again, as many noted. Regrettably there is no cure for his inefficiencies , especially with better pitchers on the IL . I'm sure the answer will be, just try harder and be better. Good idea.

If MLB teams can use position players as mop up pitchers, then there ought o be a run rule as well. When the oppo is down by 15 after the 7th inning, call the game

This 4 game series against the low flying Orioles should be telling. Sox are at home , have had a day off and can even bring in a 26th player. As Nick says, anything less than 3Ws is a failure and flashing red light for the Sox. 3 or 4 wins gets them back over the .500 magnet . I would like to say it would develop some momentum but this team has resisted momentum , other than Jad's 5 game streak.

Thank you for focusing on the only thing that ultimately mattered. 16 K's out of 27 outs ?? Really bad. Score 1 run, very rarely win. And it wasn't Crochet giving up multiple runs

And regarding Campbell's current slump , just watch his AB's tonight closely . If he strokes 4 line drives or warning track shots, then he is unlucky , BABIP be damned. But if he K's twice, bounces back to the pitcher and pops up , then I contend he has lost his way , not just the last 15 . He looks bad with a bat in his hand. He does excel at foul balls by swinging late before he K's on a sweeper. Not saying he must be sent away because the team has now invested in him, so they need to work him out of the current fugue. Another instance of considering whether Cora can only manage veteran players well or can he and his coaches develop young , unfinished guys into the ones who will contend 2 and 3 years from now.

Doesn't matter much now what Breslow is saying., Anthony and Mayer for different reasons will be at WooSox until a significant injury occurs in the IF/OF Yoshida's case is irrelevant now that Devers is pounding the ball. The time to make a bold move was prior to or during ST, by converting Abreu or Duran into a meaningful relief pitcher . This now may happen at the deadline , or next hot stove league. Meanwhile Craig and Alex need to work with what they have to at least make the Wild Card series.

i only said his performance at WooSox after Boston puts him on the DFA pathway. More likely they would use his MLB experience to give him some throw in value in a later trade deal. Or he could relearn to pitch effectively and make himself some money.

In case anyone was wondering ( crickets) if Zack Kelly was finding his groove at WooSox, think again. Zack , on his way to a DFA, is sporting an 11.42 ERA with a 2.54 WHIP, and more walks than K's (14/11) . Burdi is the "Man" at WooSox and should be back in Boston before long when an extra arm is needed. He did give up an HR in his 2.1 innings in Boston last week.

If the Sox ever had a chance to sweep a team, any team, tonight would be the one with Crochet going against a slumping team. Imagine scoring 2 runs in 2 games at Fenway with the incredible Mr. Soto on your team. But the history with Garrett is that the Run Support Bunny is in hiding for him.

The BP's performances the 2 wins vs the METS has been spectacular. Especially after Buehler got wasted by a really bad umpire

Ramon Vazquez's managing of the Red Sox over the past 2 games is nothing short of fantastic. A winning streak, a shutout, undefeated as acting manager, really good job, Ramon.

Campbell is looking clueless at bat. Rafaela looks better than KC. He may find himself back at Woo before July if he can't figure it out. AB's look very tentative, jumps at most pitches, not swinging hard or taking much .

Wong will have problems getting back into even a 50-50 catching duo. More like 25-75 in favor of Narvaez.

I saw nothing in that 1 inning stint ( scoreless due to big D plays) from Whitlock that would encourage me to bring him in a key late inning situation.

If the Sox give up a run in the 4th, note that Hamilton missed the tag on a good throw from Duran to cut down a double. Sogard's stop at 1B stopped an immediate run, so we'll see

That incident with Esterbruck and the tossing of Buehler is way outside the lines. Umpire misses the call badly, and then goes on offense. Screw their union and the assumption that they can control the game. Esterbruck makes Laz Diaz look like a pro

Well that is what Wilyer gets, when he tries to pull and outside pitch and rolls it over . The Mets infield alignment shows that any ball hit to the left of 2B would likely be available for a double, since virtually no one is more than 20' left of 2B. So slap it that way and get working off your slump.

What pitch , when down 2 strikes, do Story and Rafaela think Senga might throw ? Whatever they are thinking they still chase the obvious sinker into the dirt to complete the K. No one can be that unaware of the pitcher's out pitch. I would rather see the 97 mph Fb go by than chase that most obvious sinker in the dirt
