  1. Looking forward , how long do you think Buehler's shoulder will hold up after recycling into the rotation ? If it is sore in May, It's going to be sore in June, July, August and September. I just don't think there will be much effective mileage obtained from Walker over the season. Maybe 15 total starts. Perhaps he will have to go into the BP.
  2. It may be meaningless because the game was already out of hand but Sean Newcomb did go 5 & 2/3rds in relief on 98 pitches giving up 2 earned runs and no walks. He did surrender 9 hits, so not exactly dominating. In other news, K. Campbell extended his profound slump by going 0-4 with 2 K's adding to his last 15 game performance of .200/.573 with 21 K's. Mlb's pitchers will find your weak spots and exploit them. That is one reason all the calls for Mayer may be exciting but little guarantee of actual real results. Anthony hopefully is the exception to the rule and could bang the ball .
  3. Also the Inexperienced Toro at 1B experiment needs to end as soon as Gonzalez gets off the IL, about a week. Biut that's not the answer either. Breslow, do your job. Find 1 experienced MLB 1bman who needs a new homw and get him over here. Or just demand that Devers plays CF. " Put me in coach, I'm ready to play centerfield", J. Fogartey
  4. Are these guys serious in any way , shape or form ? Cross this game off and regroup for tomorrow. Wouldn't be shocked if Houck discovers he has an arm injury. . He's just not competitive on some nights.
  5. He threw 2 BP sessions last week , but is not set to return to MLB activity until end of May at best, June more likely.
  6. Wong and Toro currently bunch two non-hitters in the #7 & #8 slots. They have a combined .682 OPS in a small sample size., but do not look ready to have competitive AB's based on some of the strike takes and out of zone swings.
  7. But, Hugh, you are describing what happens in the real world of work, production and reasonable salaries, not the make believe world of athletes/celebrities/actors where everything is skewed . These folks have been told they are the GOATS since early childhood and do perform skills that only 0.1% can do . Raffy's ego got bruised when the Red Sox management cumulatively "told' him he wasn't good enough at 3rd base, and signed Bregman. I always felt he had a diva attitude but covered it with his strong hitting skills until the shoulder injuries August/Sept 2024. Depending on the standings and realistic chance for a playoff run, I hope Breslow considers the entire roster open to trading in July if it will solidify those chances. Screw feelings, they are all getting paid well to be professionals .
  8. Hamilton is not good on either side of the ball. He is digging himself a hole in the Pike to WooSox
  9. If only Duran would accept ball 4 on all his 3-2 counts his impact on the game would increase by 25%.
  10. Watching a replay of the extra innings from last night led to 2 questions: Could Connor Wong be any worse at framing, pitch calling and blocking than he already is ? Of course his prowess at the plate covers the catching deficiencies. Do your job, Craig, and find another catcher. Could anyone be less adept at baseball skills than Toro ? There was a reason he was stockpiled at Worcester . That is about his high water mark.
  11. Whitlock does suck in tough spots. That was a win that would have been well earned. Now it's a crapshoot
  12. Can Divas go from DH to pitch ? He was complaining about having to go to the OF. Maybe he can throw a few
  13. Do the Sox hitters come out of the dugout down 0-2, 1-2 ? I'd love to see that stat. No wonder they have issues scoring Divas does get the run home so there's that. Congrats
  14. Great inning by Chapman, a few too many pitches but nobody on KC could hit him.
  15. Agreed, also. The pitch he swung at for K3 was a foot high
  16. So , even if you spot these duds a man on 2nd, still cannot even advance him, much less score. Another one of those remember that game in late September
  17. Toro and Wong B to B. What a duo. Up to Rafae;a to try and get us a run Toro should have been bunting
  18. Interesting that Cora lets Slaten go the 9th , holding Chapman for the possible win . Could be a good choice. Shows confidence in Slaten. The team does need him to not cough it up as the season progresses.
  19. Sox shutout for 9, so it may well be a 1-0 outcome. How strong can Chapman be ?
  20. Does anyone else think Duran's shoulder dip is causing him to be under a lot of pitches leading to mucho pop ups. Maybe he is trying to get his launch angle up to be a HR hitter like Divas but this isn't working well.
  21. Weissert at 13 pitches, 2 walks, no outs. Ad Nauseum, when a reliever gets to 20 pitches in an inning bad things start to happen. Need a DP or TP right now
  22. Wong and Toro combined OPS'ing .698. Cannot carry that load much further. ( Warning SSS) For entirely different reasons than Divas, I think Breslow needs to go to work.
  23. Dobbins is pitching a big time game . Rafaela, aside from getting a hit, save 2 or 3 bases there at the wall. Might have to asked the pitcher's opinion, since players run this team, before putting Cedanne on the bench
  24. Lead off double by the #9 hitter, Rafaela, followed by B to B K's by Duran and Divas . Another base runner when Bregman gets hit, then the umpire makes 1 bad and 1 truly awful call for strikes on Campbell, teaching the rookie that Lorenzen gets the huge benefit of experience while rookies eat dirt. Swing the bat Kristian , the umps will not treat you fairly this year.
