  1. Connor Wong has truly become hopeless as a hitter. His only chance would be to bunt 4 times a game. Narvaez should be considered the #1 catcher with Wong playing only about 40% of games.
  2. Dobbins is rising in the Sox pitching picture. This is a guy who can pitch with 2 outs and 2 strikes , completing the inning with no damage. Looks better than Houck or Buehler to the eye test.
  3. Max, Yoshida is not the problem. The Sox can leave him on the IL , especially if he really cannot throw , leave him in AAA all season or trade for anything , or finally just DFA . I say leave him at WooSox, let him heal and then package him at trade deadline for a broke-arm reliever. The real issue is whether Devers' is clogging the advancement of POTENTIALLY really good players ( unproven) who could further improve this team. Or is Ceddanne Rafaela the clog , despite the GG defense and a better approach AB.
  4. I have said this before, but given that Yoshida's likelihood of being put in the OF ( LF specifically) is about equal to Devers now going to 1B and sending Breslow a Hannukkah card. Yoshi doesn't need to throw but could PH as long as the labrum healing doesn't impinge his swing. Devers intransigence about playing 1B keeps Yoshida sidelined, maybe all year, wasting another $18 MM , in addition to Raffy's $30Mm for a DH only . Just a guess but I bet the overall controversy , which will not quiet down until Breslow follows the command to "do his job" and find a 1Bman, will lead to Devers going into a long slump . Not wishing it, just expecting some more pouting
  5. Appreciate the articles you post that I might not otherwise see. This one is stirring the pot somewhat, but with no chicken in yet. Looking for the player with the cojones to say, either way, what he is thinking. We know some ex-players like Merloni think, but they are also 'company men" getting a paycheck. Cora remains very protective of his guys, probably the right course , and did not want to expose Raffy as uncooperative . Thanks, Raffy, for stabbing your compadre in the back by going public. I hope he hits a ton, maybe 1.500 OPS, the rest of the year to make himself valuable to some team
  6. I take great pride in the fact that I never liked this player nor his attitude . He has been and will be paid a ton of money but is not an exceptional player in the field nor at bat. I am glad that the truth finally came out of his mouth , ripping Breslow was a great idea, Raffy. Play out the rest of the season as a well compensated DH , assclown, and I truly hope Breslow trades you this winter . You were the wrong one to get paid , jerk. Finally we have some actual reason to justify criticizing about your phat a@@. Who will be the teammates to verbally defend or critique Devers? That could make it more interesting
  7. Definitely so. The Sox took a series win at Fenway, essential to any post season hopes, The Sox broke a tied game after the 6th and the BP sealed . K's by the hitters dropped back well below 10 (1/7) . Devers looks to be heating up at bat. The dastardly denizens of the BP, Slaten and Whitlock, held a shutout together. Sox win even when Bello is a little unsteady but good defense helped. Does this portend the start of a good run for the guys ? I would take 3-3 on this trip to KC and Tigers.
  8. Interesting that in the Sox 6-4 win yesterday, they only had 1 K , today back to 7 and should not be batting in the 9th. The win awaiting them is the big deal before going on the tough team road trip. Bello is just himself. Sloppy but got it done with some DP help. Slaten apparently sobered up. Whitlock, the one inning wonder and Hendriks, an old pro
  9. Bello pitching a day game ? This should be illuminating. A pivotal game for the big boy to try and dominate. The Sox will either be 1 over or 1 under .500 heading towards their Mother's Day weekend.
  10. Timely win, and was that the first time to pull out the win after 6 innings ? They were tied at 3-3, not trailing but got the win. Never confuse Chapman with a pitcher . He is an unusually talented thrower of the baseball. 5 for 5 in saves
  11. Timely win, and was that the first time to pull out the win after 6 innings ? They were tied at 3-3, not trailing but got the win. Never confuse Chapman with a pitcher . He is an unusually talented thrower of the baseball. 5 for 5 in saves

  13. Story plays a SS game--Sux Streakily. He is a liability right now at the plate
  14. It may take a couple years but soon enough the Devers contract will be referred to in the same context as Panda's or a long list of other dead money deals
  15. Duran hits more line shots into outs by aiming them at the defense. He has hit into a lot of accurate shifts or bad luck
  16. Where the heck would this team be without Bregman. Imagine if you had to count on Devers for an RBI once in a while.
  17. Bochy's knees should go to the Smithsonian after he is done with them
  18. Toro says , "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play 1B" . Romy delivered an ass shot to Smith who was hogging the lane, but it is Romy who is out on another appeal review. run doesn't score. SMH
  19. Abreu hitting a CF wall ball off a LH'er, but cannot score 2 , due to using the challenge on the 1B play earlier. Sox would have no luck if not for bad luck, and odd calls
  20. True---not a great start, but the game is very winnable . Get more men on base and then get a bleeder through for a run or two.
  21. Good observation. Not sure how but getting paid has not stimulated him, his body will betray him in a few years, IMO.
  22. Your last line seems a good description of the mental set of this team, especially at Fenway. Not one come from behind after 6 this year ? 4-9 in one run games ? Bregman does not seem to have this affliction , but he may not be around for additional years if the Sox/Cora run a negative vibe in the clubhouse. Of course, nothing's wrong that a 5 or 6 game win streak wouldn't cure. I think they definitely need a good road trip vs better teams or the Sox could get buried by late May.
  23. Sox get 2 on Bregman andf Abreu solo HR's. Houck, not having a real good night , immediately sets up the give back, can't finish the 5th. Houck could be a professional mourner with his long blank face look.
  24. But my real point of interest is that the Sox are NO HIT again through 3 , after chalking up 1 run last night. The players do not hit well at home, but keep the stats up with the rare blowout win. Ranger pitching is good but not lights out vs a team that is underperforming
  25. My guess is that the review committee called interference ( blocking the base without the ball, although the ball was all around Gonzalez's glove before the runner reached the base and passed it, never touching the base.
