  1. Chapman does get it done, but with a lot of pitches. 3-2 walks usually hurt relievers. Now can Devers pull this win out of the fire ? The answer is yes !!! Come from behind win
  2. Duran is waking up nicely. 2out, 2 run RBI single vs a LH pitcher. Timely hit Perfectly placed throw cuts him down on the steal attempt.
  3. Another really bad K by Rafaela with men on 2nd/3rd. A lot of BIP's would have scored at least one, setting up the 13th one run loss.
  4. re warning track power from Story. These guys do not hit well at home.
  5. Seeing a lot of warning track power from a several of our alleged hitters tonight . Just not quite enough of anything. . Where did the three run HR's go ?
  6. The MLB pitcher's caught up to Kristian's act fairly quick. He is what he is, definitely no way a clean up hitter, but Cora will not change .
  7. I'm following your thread out of respect for your prior winning streak, Jad. Good luck to us.
  8. What is hard to accept is that this game was over after the second Atlanta batter in the 2nd inning. Credit to Sale and their BP . On our side , when a supposed MLB level pitcher cannot throw a strike ( yes, it may get hit) then you need to make decisions on who can actually perform at this level. The idiotic level of play , especially in Fenway games, is a reflection on leadership whether it's by veteran players or dugout staff. We know Devers defers from leadership roles, and Bregman is already filling out change of address forms as he watches this trash level of baseball. That leaves you AC. Why isn't Tek an "enforcer" for Cora to call out poor play. That clubhouse is way too comfortable.
  9. I'm only getting a lot of constructiuve criticism in early because my wife insists we go out tonight , after 45 red Sox games, she may have a point. Campbell , predictably, has a ways to go to be a MLB hitter. Understandable , but similar concerns for Mayer/Anthony when they get called. Might be a year of patience clearly seen in Mid-May.
  10. Story, in addition to his other skills, really knows how to make a pitcher work. First pitch from Sale , beat it into the ground and get thrown out. Another strong candidate for a trade in July if any team needs a SS/2B
  11. Since Duran would have seen Devers was a dead duck, to continue the Animal farm references, he should have broke for home even if late because it would take a good throw to get him . I did not see if he went .
  12. Speaking of pigs, Story almost butchers another throw to first with plenty of time. Saved by Sogard
  13. These guys are little league goofballs to the max. Bregman, that was a very tough pitch but it was a strike. Sit down. Devers, not sure if that was a play to help Duran steal home, but you in a rundown is similar to a pig in a poke. Crap like this does reflect in some way on the manager and coaches. The case is building
  14. The statement is they will continue some use of the yellow City Connects because the team already prepaid the laundry service for this year.
  15. One of our 9 batters will HR off Sale. Just hope someone is on base, maybe a couple.
  16. A reasonable scenario is to keep Cora as manager through 2025 then bump him up to the FO , as a special assistant to the Owner, to hold J. Henry's hand . Saves face for all of them and some money Also would put Alex in a position to severely second guess and undermine Craig Breslow, which is what AC's goal is, Si o No ?
  17. Certainly agree with you here . The contract is just another sunk cost on the good ship Red Sox and not a significant factor. Yoshida was not a good fielder when he could throw a ball pain free. He is out of sight, out of mind right now . I am a fan of Duran's intensity and effort but agree that his future upside is more limited than Anthony , so maybe he is a good trade asset. Let Devers DH if he can produce there and resolve his future next year. Get a legit 1Bman now . Brez needs to identify and figure the price on 2 more relievers by end of June. I am hoping Dobbins is Houck's replacement in the rotation . Houck will miss time and then his UCL will pop. Buehler will have on/off shoulder problems for the rest of the year then be gone
  18. I think you caught Cora's character very well. He is not the manager for a young team. His approach works well with veteran players who know their way around the diamond and clubhouse. Sometimes I think he is there because he can speak Spanish to the some of the young players on this team. He is , at minimum, part of the problem in terms of not winning close games. Is Bailey not ?
  19. Lead off walks have undone a few Sox relievers the past several games. OTOH, Chap, man has been consistently effective and saved 6 of 6 , BUT with 2 losses including today's. Sox relievers are credited with 7 of the 23 losses.
  20. Maybe we can study the advanced metrics to make ourselves feel better that this team is really good on paper and ranks well within the AL and MLB in general. The W-L's are reserved for those who only watch the games and see the results.
  21. Just don't want the Tigers to call this a SWEEP because that would imply they took the trash out.
  22. How many 1 run losses before these guys get tired of it. Wong's half-assed sail ball to CF gave this one away. Might have put the successful hitter on just to have the force out possibility with a LH'er due up. Who knows ?
  23. How did Bregman's grounder not hit a bump and get through the infield ? Devers" K was easier to explain. Can't hit a FB
