  1. I wrote out a response in all caps because I write caps at work and I decided I don't want you to think I'm yelling. Yeah, I mean it could be Casas, I'm for trading anyone for the right price, I think Casas could net a far higher return if he puts together a full season (or not). But I just don't see the need to right now.
  2. I don't think they sign VLAD if they're signing Soto, it's one. I don't think he's going to get Soto money but he's going to be close. He's going to be asking for over 500 million. Are the Sox going to go out and spend 1.2 billion on a LF and 1B in back to back years? I doubt it. I think it's one or the other.
  3. Bogaerts was FIVE years older when heading into FA that year, comparing a 30 year old free agent to a 25 year old free agent is apples and oranges.
  4. How does Xander Bogaerts make it a more appropriate sample?
  5. Or go up, could probably make it go either way depending on how many names we put on there, Soto is going near the top so I don't think we can dilute it that much.
  6. They're trading Abreu more likely. Why does Casas have to go if Soto is signed?
  7. Also, not sure sure I would call Arenando a bad contract just yet. Giancarlo yes, Bogaerts doesn't even belong on that list honestly, Padres are just insane. Also, how many of those guys signed an extension starting on their age 26 season? Yeah, I know Stanton is one of them but remember he was an injury concern AT the time, Soto is not.
  8. soxprospects has been pumping them out lately. One reason I'm in on Soto, is I believe if you sign Soto, you're going big again and pitchers are going to be added as well. I also think you can easily put an opt out in his contract (I'm sure Boras will insist) and there's a good chance you're only paying for his age 26-30, 26-31 years anyways.
  9. Ohtani Judge Harper Corey Seager Yamamoto Gerrit Cole Manny Machado Biggest contracts ever, how many of those look horrible right now? Also, you forget, Soto is 25, he's just not a guy who's going to put up insane numbers but he's at the beginning of his prime. Also, he's marketable, you make money just from his name. Sox should be all in on Soto, don't talk yourselves out of it, don't overthink. He's Juan freaking Soto.
  10. My favorite part is when they go off on all the dumb reasons to not want Soto here.

  12. I think if we sign Soto it’s a sign they’re willing to expand the budget again for a few years. I don’t think landing Soto takes them out of the market for pitchers. If anything I believe it makes them more likely to go after pitching
  13. Honestly if the price was really only going to be Abreu plus, I’d be comfortable trading for him. Don’t have to extend him if his demands are insane. And two years + a pick is fine, and they could still sign Fried in that scenario as well
  14. It would be pretty cool if the Sox struck first with one of these pitchers. that would excite the fan base, shut up the haters a little bit, improve the team, but also show Soto they’re serious about being a contender moving forward
  15. First off. I completely agree with you. If the Sox sign Soto there’s no way they’re done this offseason. even then, even if they were, you can pass your a chance to sign Soto.
  16. So the Sox shouldn’t sign Soto because they’ll make other mistakes, so like……why not just not sign anyone then?
  17. There’s literally no respectable argument for not signing Soto if you can
  18. Of course, SP should be the priority, but you can't pass up a chance to take a shot at a generational talent like Soto.
  19. Errors were made in this post. the point still stands
  20. Soto mine as well be the RHB addition because he hits them just fine. Sure, I'd love a legit power bat in-between him and Devers but imagine the havoc Duran/Devers/Soto/Casas will run on opposing teams. They bring in their lefty specialist in the 6th inning to face Soto (who may crush him anyways) and then what do they do in the 8th and 9th? Must teams only have a few lefty's in the bullpen who can only go for a few guys to an inning.
  21. I just posted this on another thread, but Soto pretty much has a higher OPS Vs LHP than almost the entire RHH market.
  22. Pete Alonso/Teoscar Hernandez/Anthony Santander (Switch hitter techincally)/Eugenio Suarez/WIlly Adames/Alex Bregman/Pete Alonso/Anthony Santander. Those are the TOP RH HITTERS in free agency this year. Juan Soto had a higher OPS against LHP than all of them.
  23. I know the donny downers will have a field day with this but I think there's a legit shot for Boston to sign him. It feels very different to me, I think they're legit making a hard run at him. Now with that said, they still have to legit contend with NY/NY/LA on this so......maybe we find out how much of a Red Sox fan he actually was growing up. Not saying that matters, but if the money is equal you think it would be.
  24. Hey! who needs Giolito on the DL when we can have a younger more talented pitcher on the DL
