  1. That lineup would look so much better subtracting Teoscar and adding Soto
  2. What is Teoscar like .027 better OPS liftime vs. RHP. I wouldn't say one can and one can't. Besides I need O'Neill to DH, I don't wanna pay Teoscar to play the field or DH when he will cost a lot more. It's all mute anyways, because Yoshida is here and I'm hoping for another move to happen
  3. In the absence of Juan Soto, I'd rather just run a Duran/Rafaela/Anthony outfield OR a (Refsnyder/Abreu)/Duran/Anthony outfield and go heavy heavy on the $$$ for pitching.
  4. If they didn't have Masa, I would have just explored a 2 year deal with O'Neill to DH.
  5. If we are signing Soto, I don't think Teoscar Hernandez is on the table. I was actually the biggest advocate for trading for Teoscar at the 2023 deadline, and then last year on a 1 year rebuild value deal. He's done that, and now I think he's going to be overpaid, and if we sign Soto we already have a crowded outfield. But I agree that Soto bats 2nd in front of Raffy here.
  6. How many people came in here to make this same point? Certainly would be far from a slam dunk but I can't help but think he'd have a shot if Manny Machado was a half way decent human being. Not only do I think he may have had more games played with better results between 2017-2019, but if didn't fall off like he had maybe even played another year or two as well. It might not of been 2.5 it may have been 4.5 years of production Manny robbed Dustin of.
  7. If they're willing to go over because they believe in this team, then they probably don't mind staying over for two years, ALSO the penaltiy for going over the 2nd threshold is just nominal money. Still, I think the Sox would want an avenue to dip under several years in the future. I can see them adding two big contracts this offseason if they're serious.....Call it Snell/Soto and then maybe spending higher AAV on a few guys for 1-2 years.
  8. or did i just give you all an out when I'm correct?
  9. do you really though?
  10. Yeah, Jays are pretty desperate. I think I could live with 5, would love it if he goes the Harper route unlikely as it may be.
  11. It certainly feels like they want to make a decision relatively quickly, and not draw this thing out. I wouldn't be surprised if we know by early December, but I think before christmas might be a lot safer of a bet. Of course the safest bet is before opening day.
  12. to me 1, 2 it doesn't matter. I think it's just very very likely that there's AN opt out in there.
  13. But I also speculate that doesn't change anyones stance.
  14. I probably should have clarified that I'm talking about payroll for tax purposes.
  15. So hypothetically good. I'm sure there's potential for fans to look back in hindsight and not be too upset a guy opts out, but on the players side they're 100% player friendly. Unless he goes the Bryce Harper route, a Soto contract is almost certain to have an opt out in it, at least one if not multiple in the year 4-6 range.
  16. People are sticking to their guns, I can respect that. I too am sticking to my over prediction.
  17. They’re already up to 175
  18. Anyone wanna change their position?
  19. All this time I've been thinking about Fried/Burnes and I never thought that perhaps Snell is the one who can make me love again. I would love it if it could be on nothing more than a 5 year deal.
  20. It's going to be different this time, just like I said last offseason.
  21. Stork was calling for an 8 year deal. I don't think he takes a shorter term deal, but you're 100% right if he does it's going to have to have opt outs and a higher AAV. And for Soto, I think a shorter deal is in the 10-12 range. No way it's 8 years.
  22. Ok, I'm not surprised there's one, there's allowed to be more than 1 and still call it very rare. This isn't highlander. The only point I've been trying to hammer out here is how rare a free agent like Juan Soto is. It would be crazy to not make an honest run at him in my opinion
  23. The only way Soto is signing a contract with less years is if the AAV is much higher and there's an opt out after year 4. Maybe the total contract is less, but you got to have that thing front loaded paying him 60-70 a year where he opts out at 30. I just don't see that happening. If that is what is suppose to entice a guy to take 500 million instead of 650 million he's just going to take the later.
  24. LOL, I think all these people offering 8-12 years are hilarious. If the Sox do manage to pull off a Soto signing it will give them something to whine about. Because there's no way he's not signing a mammoth of a contract.
