  1. Still too early to say, all are pretty young. But I think Mateo ends up as the biggest non-factor. Maybe he can be an MLB pinch runner. As for Fowler, I think he'll end up as an averagish bat with plus defense and speed. And who the hell knows about Kap. He has high end potential but has barely thrown more professional innings than I have. The biggest skill any pitcher can have is availability, and he gets a 0 out of 80 rating there.
  2. Something off with those Astros pitchers. Better RPM and velocity on all those guys who came over.
  3. Putting all their eggs in the Moreland basket I see
  4. Price is pretty awesome when he's not faking injuries to avoid the Yankees.
  5. Easy to second guess now that we lost. The offense gave CC a five run lead and he blew it. Then they gave the bullpen a four run lead and they blew it. Against a subpar team like that 10 runs should have been enough, but our pitching was s***. As a manager Boone gets some blame but ultimately CC and the bullpen deserve 90% of the blame.
  6. German threw a 6 inning no hitter with Sanchez catching. So I don't think it's a Sanchez issue, it's a control issue with German. He has great stuff but when he's off he has no clue where the ball is going. And he clearly wasn't afraid to put balls in the dirt considering that's where like 50% of his pitches ended up. Blocking balls is obviously Sanchez's biggest weakness (and only weakness in my opinion) but any catcher would have struggled catching German last night
  7. WAR was created as a way to compare other players to Mike Trout's greatness, so obviously nobody else would be ahead of him.
  8. I could see a team like the Rays trading for him and sticking him into their lineup. Rob Refsnyder has played in half of their games this season for goodness sake!
  9. Also I thought it would be appropriate to repost this today.
  10. I like Hicks but last year he was pretty mediocre/below average at the plate for half of the season. He has a great eye but his bat to ball skills don't seem that great. Maybe that's who he is as a player? And if Hicks continue to hit .220 I could see Frazier eating into his playing time.
  11. Yep right after the Sox give back all rings when Manny played
  12. Jordan Lyles with the Padres (who????) with a perfect game heading into the 6th. Padres fans haven't had much to cheer about for the past two decades, this would be nice for them.
  13. Pitcher injured throwing glove. There's a joke in there somewhere, I just haven't figured it out yet.
  14. Cano's full statement: "Recently I learned that I tested positive for a substance called Furosemide, which is not a performance-enhancing substance. Furosemide is used to treat various medical conditions in the United States and Dominican Republic. This substance was given to me by a licensed doctor in the Dominican Republic to treat a medical ailment. While I did not realize at the time that I was given a medication that was banned, I obviously now wish that I had been more careful. For more than 15 years, playing professional baseball has been the greatest honor of my life. I would never do anything to cheat the rules of the game that I love, and after undergoing dozens of drug tests over more than a decade, I have never tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance for the simple reason that I have never taken one. Today I decided to accept MLB's suspension. This was the most difficult decision I have ever made in my life, but ultimately the right decision given that I do not dispute that I was given this substance. I apologize to my family, friends, fans, teammates and the Mariners organization. I am extremely grateful for the support I have received during this process, and I look forward to rejoining my teammates later this season." So I wonder what was the "condition" that Furosemide was being used to treat??
  15. I was waiting to see when you'd surface with that comment. Took 55 minutes, longer than I expected.
  16. Clint gets the call up. I'm guessing Hale gets DFA'd... unless someone is injured that we don't know about.
  17. So do those 80 games only take effect after he's off the DL?
  18. Going up against Scherzer in a couple of days. That should be a fun matchup.
  19. Series tied. See y'all losers in 7 weeks
  20. Sometimes I have an issue with Betances going 2 innings but last night I was fine with it. Who would we bring in to face JD Martinez? Shreve? Cole? Hale? Robertson wasn't going to come in unless it was a save/fireman situation. Betances made a good pitch but JD got just enough to loop it into the first row of the short porch. s*** happens. Betances still went on to retire everyone else in pretty dominant fashion so it's not like he was a mess in his second inning.
  21. Definitely the greatest stretch of baseball I can remember them playing in a long time. Especially considering who they've been playing.
  22. It's not a good look for Price that this tingling sensation has twice flared up during games against the Yankees. I won't question his competitiveness because these guys are all alpha males, but you know people will inevitably draw conclusions from this.
  23. I always expect to win when Sevy is pitching. We'll see what happens though.
  24. This s*** keeps me up at night. I distinctly remember it being Bernstein bears. Then all of a sudden it became Berenstein bears. And now it's Berenstain bears??!! What the $#^& is going on?!
  25. 5 of Severino's 7 starts this season have come against teams over .500 (BOS, TOR x2, LAA, HOU) In those starts, he is 3-1 (the one loss against the Sox of course). He has averaged 6 2/3 innings per start with a 2.41 ERA and 9.9Ks per 9 innings. Just throwing that out there for reference
