    Sometimes I have an issue with Betances going 2 innings but last night I was fine with it. Who would we bring in to face JD Martinez? Shreve? Cole? Hale? Robertson wasn't going to come in unless it was a save/fireman situation. Betances made a good pitch but JD got just enough to loop it into the first row of the short porch. s*** happens. Betances still went on to retire everyone else in pretty dominant fashion so it's not like he was a mess in his second inning.

    Definitely the greatest stretch of baseball I can remember them playing in a long time. Especially considering who they've been playing.

    It's not a good look for Price that this tingling sensation has twice flared up during games against the Yankees. I won't question his competitiveness because these guys are all alpha males, but you know people will inevitably draw conclusions from this.

    This s*** keeps me up at night. I distinctly remember it being Bernstein bears. Then all of a sudden it became Berenstein bears. And now it's Berenstain bears??!! What the $#^& is going on?!

    5 of Severino's 7 starts this season have come against teams over .500 (BOS, TOR x2, LAA, HOU) In those starts, he is 3-1 (the one loss against the Sox of course). He has averaged 6 2/3 innings per start with a 2.41 ERA and 9.9Ks per 9 innings. Just throwing that out there for reference

    They should have a salary floor. I'm sure players would be in favor of this as well. Something like all teams needs to have at least a $100M annual payroll averaged over a 3 year period.

    Yankees and Red Sox will have a two game series in London in June 2019. I feel like that kind of rivalry game will be wasted on the Brits.

    And the bullpen hasn't allowed a run since April 26th (0 ER over the last 21 innings). The pitching obviously won't be this good for the whole season, but it's nice to see it even out after such a s***** start.

    Can't hate on Mookie, he's one of the top players in the game. But I have always thought it was strange that he bats leadoff instead of 3rd or 4th. Gotta think he'd be driving in a lot more runs a couple of spots down in the order.

    Sheffield is actually lined up to go in Monty's slot since he pitched last night (6 IP, 3H, 3 BB, 9K). Obviously the walks are concerning but his stuff is top notch. I doubt they'll jump him from AA to the Majors but ya never know.

    Don't know why I'm diving back into this... Austin obviously slid with his cleats up. But if you see the video, Austin's leg only gets pulled to the side of the bag after his cleat gets stuck on Holt's pants as Holt is moving his leg away from the bag. So the order of operations for you math nerds is that 1) he cleats him near the bag, 2) cleat gets stuck on Holt, 3)Holt moves leg, 4) stuck cleat gets pulled as Holt moves I'm not defending Austin for sliding cleats up. This isn't the 80's anymore and the unwritten rules are different now. But it's not like it was some egregious act.

    The questions around Austin have always been what position is he gonna play and can he hit right handed pitching. He has hit righties so far this season but I won't say he can hit them long term based on four weeks of production. And he is a below average fielding first baseman, an even worse corner outfielder, and third base?? Never heard that one before but I can't ever imagine Boone wanting to put him out there unless half the team is injured. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rip on the guy. I happen to like him. And he's still young so he has room to improve. But let's not be hasty in anointing him as the next big piece of this team.

    Walker looked better at the plate this weekend and I think given more playing time he'd round into form. But it's hard to take Austin out of the lineup when he's mashing. I expect Austin to cool down at some point before Bird returns, and then Walker will get to play more and start to hit. Then when Bird comes back, Austin goes back to AAA (or gets dealt) since he has pretty much no versatility.
