    They have quite an early hole to climb out of. I guess the only positive for them is that there's still 150+ games to do so. Fangraphs has dropped their odds of winning the division from 24% at the beginning of the season to 11% now, and playoff odds from 61% at the beginning of the season to 42% now.

    It's only 10 games so far and they could easily turn it around, but if not then how much more losing do you think Boston would need to do for them to fire Cora? If they start like 4-10, or 8-20?

    It's only two series so far, but Fangraphs has already shifted their preseason prediction for Boston from finishing 2nd in the ALE with 85 wins to finishing 4th with 83 wins. Probably more indicative of how tight they think the ALE will be this season that 2 wins would swing their position in the division that much.

    They went undefeated while I was on vacation and unable to watch a single inning. I came back yesterday and stayed up until almost 1am to watch them get walked off. I think I need to take more vacations...

    I don't expect a repeat of last season from Grisham, BUT if he does come close to last year's performance then $20M for one year will look pretty good.

    Yep, the Yankees go as Judge goes (at least offensively). I'm pretty bullish on our rotation though (barring health per usual). The Yanks should have enough above average starters to hold things down while Rodon/Cole/Schmidt return from the IL.

    There are still a lot of unsafe areas in Brooklyn, mostly eastern Brooklyn. I moved to Queens about seven years ago (Long Island City), but I'm right next to the Pulaski Bridge so I walk into Brooklyn all the time to get food in Greenpoint/Williamsburg. And you're not wrong - everything is expensive. Mexican places charge like $5 per taco, a plain pizza pie is like $25 - $30, and grocery costs are absurdly high to the point where I walk out with a small bag of stuff and I've spent like 50 bucks!

    Stanton doesn't look like a guy who eats a lot of chips anyway. I'm sure he'll be on the IL for at least a month at some point this season. As long as he's healthy around playoff time then we'll be alright.

    It's not a terrible strategy to bring back a roster that won 94 games last year. But this group under Boone just feels destined for another playoff flop.

    Football is done so now it's time to focus on the second best sport. Welcome back to the other two Yankees fans lurking somewhere around here. So what's new for the Yankees in 2026? Absolutely nothing! The Yankees brought back pretty much the same exact team as last year, with the exception of Ryan Weathers and some bottom of the 40-man roster types. Everyone else in the AL East (minus the Rays) decided to improve their rosters from last year. But the Yanks? Nah we're good. Everyone's a year older, a year wiser, and still being managed by boy genius Aaron Boone. My prediction for 2026? I'll say somewhere between 89-91 wins and a wild card berth, followed by an exit in the Divisional Round (AKA the Boone Special.) Good luck to all (except Boston)!

    Good move for you guys. I was bummed when Durbin got traded from the Yanks, and even more bummed because he actually turned into a good player with Milwaukee. And now super bummed because he's on Boston. Dude is a grinder who makes a ton of contact and can play all over the field. His arm might be a little weak at 3rd from what I remember, but I think he still grades out as a positive defender.

    Good trade for Boston. 36 isn't necessarily old for a starter, as we've seen many starters this century still pitch at a high level into their late 30s. And Gray's repertoire doesn't rely on high velocity so his decline shouldn't be as immediate. But I guess we'll find out if he has issues pitching for a big market team, or if that only applied when he was on the Yankees.

    Bad ending for your guys but overall I think it was a successful season for Boston given the expectations to start the year. Boston is potentially poised for a big 2026, but they definitely need to shore up some spots on their roster. And as Baltimore proved this year, growth is not linear for a lot of these young players so Breslow can't just assume every young player will be better and be able to fill a roster spot.

    I think it was the only way they could increase the wild card from a single play-in game (how it was a few years ago) to multiple games without creating too large of a break for the teams with a bye. But I hear ya. I also have a gripe with the lack of re-seeding in MLB playoffs (Yanks tied for the best record in the AL but don't get rewarded for it). Oh well. Should be a good series though, hope you guys lose 😉
