That's the postseason plan. During the regular season AJ Cole, Jonathan Holder, and the current rotating 8th reliever on the roster are highly featured.
I think the ranking is fair. We have tons of highly talented prospects who are Single A or lower. We don't really have many impact prospects at higher levels. There's Sheffield. Mike King has kinda burst onto the scene this year as well. But other than that our top higher level guys have had down years or have been injured.
It's easy to forget that Sevy is only 24 years old since it feels like he's been on the Yankees for quite awhile. Young pitchers experience growing pains. It happens. While it definitely sucks that he's experiencing them at a very inopportune time, there's no question that he's a frontline starter.
I would think so. That .667 is slugging pct not OPS. His OPS in those games in 1.027.
We all know he sucks at fielding balls in the dirt. But he is an above average pitch framer and holds runners well with his arm. He'll never be mistaken for a gold glove catcher but it's not like he's a ******** at every aspect of catching.
On the contrary, the Red Sox are one of the few teams he played well against.
For the season against Boston (6 games): .286/.360/.667 with 2 HRs and 8 RBIs
For his career against Boston (32 games): .280/.320/.598 with 12 HRs and 33 RBIs
I don't see that happening. We're already plugging in Sugar-Free Shane Robinson and Kyle Higashitake Mushroom into our lineup on a regular basis, they can't afford another dead spot in the lineup.
High A Tampa Yankees lost in extra innings while throwing a no hitter. How crazy is that.
On the bright side, Deivi Garcia continued to dominate, throwing 7 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 12 Ks
What a horrid series book-ended by a pretty fitting finish. However I'm going down on record as saying this will be the absolute low point of the season. Yanks will still advance further in the postseason than Boston, you can put a bookmark next to this one for October. And for those saying the Yankees will be golfing in October, keep dreaming.
Dammit I hate Sunday night games.
And based on his history I will be very surprised if Price has a good outing. I believe he was on a roll before his previous start against the Yankees as well. Seems like it's a mental hurdle for him.. but we shall see.
Lots of promise with those guys. The guy who I thought would really shine was Ezequiel Duran, but he's been pretty bad so far. Still tons of time to turn it around though.
I would normally think that this is the Sox giving Sale an extra week of rest without having to sacrifice a spot on the 25 man roster. But no way they would rest him with the Yanks-Sox series coming up unless it's actually an issue. Only 10 day though, doesn't sound serious.
Happ with hand foot and mouth disease. That's pretty random. I had never even heard of it until Thor got it like a week ago. He may miss his start against Boston now.
And Sale to the DL too with shoulder inflammation, that's a bit of a shocker. Both illnesses/injuries announced almost back to back of each other.
