  1. Damn I should have started today's thread
  2. What about Jose Canseco? I'm pretty sure he still plays for the CornBelters.
  3. Okay. If there isn't a game thread already up by 5PM I'll create one.
  4. I normally would not start a game thread here. But since my team is involved and nobody has bothered to post a thread with the game starting in less than an hour, here ya go. Boston Red Sox (6-11) @ New York Yankees (6-9) Opening pitch @ 6:35 PM Today we get a pitching matchup between Chris Sale and James Paxton. This would have been a battle of aces in 2018, but today both sides are hoping that their starter does not got knocked out of the game early. Today's Lineups 1. Betts RF 2. Bogaerts SS 3. Martinez LF 4. Pearce DH 5. Moreland 1B 6. Nunez 2B 7. Devers 3B 8. Leon C 9. Bradley CF 1. LeMahieu 2B 2. Judge RF 3. Voit 1B 4. Torres SS 5. Frazier DH 6. Urshela 3B 7. Gardner CF 8. Romine C 9. Tauchman LF May the better (or less worse) team win. Today's fun fact: All colors of Froot Loops have the same flavor.
  5. Tonight's Lineup 2B LeMahieu RF Judge 1B Voit SS Torres DH Frazier 3B Urshela CF Gardner C Romine LF Tauchman Will need Paxton and the bullpen to keep this a low scoring affair in order to have a shot with this D squad.
  6. I'd say that's more a product of injuries. Voit (.773 OPS) has been the DH in 75% of games so that Bird can get into the lineup. Had Hicks been healthy to start the year, Bird wouldn't have made the roster and Voit would be the primary first baseman.
  7. I actually welcome this injury. If Mike Ford gives us nothing, he will be equal to Bird. I also can't wait to see tonight's lineup card.
  8. Not giving up on the team, way too early for that. But all the pre-season hype of beating the HR record, winning over 100 games, being the best team in the league, etc. has started to dissipate. Now it's more like "don't dig too big of a hole before your injured players recover" mode. Not all that fun.
  9. The Thornburger Quinoa patty, limburger cheese, ecoli lettuce, slim jims, and fish sauce on fungus buns.
  10. The only thing I would've done differently was sign Corbin over Happ. I think a rotation of Severino, Paxton, Corbin, Tanaka, and CC would have been considered one of the top rotations in baseball heading into 2019.
  11. Woods looking like the champ unless he implodes. Probably only Koepka has a chance if he doesn't.
  12. I still think Paxton will be a good move for us. But I was against Happ because of his age and how it really showed by the end of last year. I hope I'm wrong but he looks cooked.
  13. All the excitement that I built up for this season has now turned into apathy. None of these new/worsening injuries phase me any more. Does one additional kick in the nuts even matter after you've already been kicked 12 times?
  14. Kyle Higashioka has been called up. No corresponding move has been announced yet but I imagine it means Sanchez is either going to the IL or will continue having to DH for awhile. Let the April from hell continue.
  15. Just some updates: Miguel Andujar made 25 throws from 60 feet yesterday and has been cleared to swing a bat on Friday. It’s not yet clear if he will be able to avoid surgery to repair the small tear in his right shoulder’s labrum, though both he and the Yankees are hopeful that he can avoid going under the knife.. Aaron Hicks has begun to hit soft-toss in addition to his throwing regimen, tweets James Wagner of the New York Times. According to manager Aaron Boone, his next step would be to take on-field batting practice. Giancarlo Stanton has begun to swing a bat. There were no reported setbacks during the session and he should continue swinging, gradually taking further steps before making his return. Dellin Betances might throw in a simulated game today, Boone said. If that goes well, Betances could get into a minor-league game next, which could mean his next move would be back in the majors. CC Sabathia threw 62 pitches over 4 1/3 innings for High-A Tampa on Sunday. Boone said it went well. He is currently scheduled to make his season debut Saturday, starting against the White Sox in New York.
  16. Glad to get out of Houston. Altuve ate our lunch. They pretty much outclassed us in all facets of the game, but hopefully we'll be a little healthier next time we face off. Now we can get back to beating up (or squeaking by) s***** teams the rest of this month. On a positive note, Joe Harvey looked pretty solid in his debut.
  17. I get the worry over your own team's lousy start, but in no way is Tampa running away with the division after 2 weeks. There's still 150 games left. And anyway you should be worrying about the Yankees hitting their stride
  18. If you want to use this season's SSS to say that your bullpen is good, then that SSS also says that your rotation is rubbish. It goes both ways. I'm sure you wouldn't agree because it's only been 11 games. But that's the point. It's only been 11 games. Based on the players in your bullpen it's not unreasonable to predict that they'll provide below average production. They've looked solid so far (except for Johnson) but let's see where they stand in another month. Same with the Yanks currently dominant rotation (2.91 total ERA).
  19. Dellin supposedly faced live batters yesterday. Hopefully he's close to a comeback. Britton sucked but what can ya do, even the best relievers give up runs occasionally. Unless this kind of outing becomes his norm, I expect him to be a force in the BP this year. Ottavino was good but was the victim of a couple of well placed groundballs. It's still a shame to lose a game like this against Verlander when we handed a lead to our "legendary" bullpen.
  20. Sevy scheduled for an MRI after saying his shoulder still doesn't feel right. Balls.
  21. Hopefully this offense carries into tomorrow's game
  22. Pretty poor game today all around. Terrible defense, base running, and of course bullpen management. Luckily Boone and Co. got bailed out by a few timely dingers. They better get their s*** together because this won't fly against a real opponent.
  23. I forgot Avril Lavigne still existed. She disappeared from the media like a decade ago.
