  1. Just some updates: Miguel Andujar made 25 throws from 60 feet yesterday and has been cleared to swing a bat on Friday. It’s not yet clear if he will be able to avoid surgery to repair the small tear in his right shoulder’s labrum, though both he and the Yankees are hopeful that he can avoid going under the knife.. Aaron Hicks has begun to hit soft-toss in addition to his throwing regimen, tweets James Wagner of the New York Times. According to manager Aaron Boone, his next step would be to take on-field batting practice. Giancarlo Stanton has begun to swing a bat. There were no reported setbacks during the session and he should continue swinging, gradually taking further steps before making his return. Dellin Betances might throw in a simulated game today, Boone said. If that goes well, Betances could get into a minor-league game next, which could mean his next move would be back in the majors. CC Sabathia threw 62 pitches over 4 1/3 innings for High-A Tampa on Sunday. Boone said it went well. He is currently scheduled to make his season debut Saturday, starting against the White Sox in New York.
  2. Glad to get out of Houston. Altuve ate our lunch. They pretty much outclassed us in all facets of the game, but hopefully we'll be a little healthier next time we face off. Now we can get back to beating up (or squeaking by) s***** teams the rest of this month. On a positive note, Joe Harvey looked pretty solid in his debut.
  3. I get the worry over your own team's lousy start, but in no way is Tampa running away with the division after 2 weeks. There's still 150 games left. And anyway you should be worrying about the Yankees hitting their stride
  4. If you want to use this season's SSS to say that your bullpen is good, then that SSS also says that your rotation is rubbish. It goes both ways. I'm sure you wouldn't agree because it's only been 11 games. But that's the point. It's only been 11 games. Based on the players in your bullpen it's not unreasonable to predict that they'll provide below average production. They've looked solid so far (except for Johnson) but let's see where they stand in another month. Same with the Yanks currently dominant rotation (2.91 total ERA).
  5. Dellin supposedly faced live batters yesterday. Hopefully he's close to a comeback. Britton sucked but what can ya do, even the best relievers give up runs occasionally. Unless this kind of outing becomes his norm, I expect him to be a force in the BP this year. Ottavino was good but was the victim of a couple of well placed groundballs. It's still a shame to lose a game like this against Verlander when we handed a lead to our "legendary" bullpen.
  6. Sevy scheduled for an MRI after saying his shoulder still doesn't feel right. Balls.
  7. Hopefully this offense carries into tomorrow's game
  8. Pretty poor game today all around. Terrible defense, base running, and of course bullpen management. Luckily Boone and Co. got bailed out by a few timely dingers. They better get their s*** together because this won't fly against a real opponent.
  9. I forgot Avril Lavigne still existed. She disappeared from the media like a decade ago.
  10. I would feel bad for him but he's making nine figures. I'd nationally humiliate myself for much less money than that.
  11. No green holder ottavino available and it was only the 6th. Had to use someone. Worked out in the end.
  12. No. I miss Severino, Hicks, Didi, Stanton, Andujar, Betances, Montgomery, and CC.
  13. Tulo just left the game, no injury announced yet. But with his history this was pretty much expected to happen at some point this season. Edit: He has a calf strain. Next man up is probably Thairo Estrada.
  14. Maybe so, but the offense wasn't hitting a lick last night. Everyone looked cold and lost and ready to go home. Hopefully today is a different story.
  15. Yeah Chapman was off, but he doesn't pitch with the same intensity/focus/whatever the hell you want to call it when it's not a save situation. Boone still hasn't realized this. It's probably for the best he coughed it up in the ninth though, I don't think the offense was capable of plating another run and that could've been a very long and exhausting game and loss.
  16. Unfortunately great pitching is only effective when your team can score a few runs. And with so many bench/AAA players in the lineup now, I fear this may be the norm until next month.
  17. Yankees' lineup tonight: 1. Brett Gardner CF 2. Aaron Judge RF 3. Luke Voit 1B 4. Gleyber Torres SS 5. DJ LaMahieu 3B 6. Mike Tauchman LF 7. Clint Frazier DH 8. Tyler Wade 2B 9. Austin Romine C Is this still spring training????
  18. In NYC it all comes down to management (or mismanagement). The city raises an insane amount of tax revenue yet the public school system is poor overall, most major roads and highways need extensive repairs, the subway system is a century old and getting shittier each year despite billions in subsidies that are ultimately funded by taxpayers, homelessness is rampant, drug related deaths and violence are increasing... So what's the solution? There are tax increases, new taxes, toll hikes, subway fare hikes, etc. almost annually. Yet these don't lead to improvements. The reason being that we have a wasteful mayor who spends large sums of taxpayer money on projects which help very few people. And the reason he gets re-elected is because people incessantly vote along party lines, even though the city has gotten noticeably worse since he took office. So how does this relate to what you're all talking about?? I dunno, I just needed to vent.
  19. I had a labrum tear in my throwing shoulder (from snowboarding). I wanted to avoid surgery so I went to a sports physical therapist.. after 12 weeks of rehab I thought I was good, but after testing it out I still felt lots of pain. Ultimately ended up getting surgery. I know every injury is different but I can't see how he can come back any time soon or be effective this season. AND I do not trust our medical staff, so I will always assume the worst for Yankee injuries.
  20. The shocking part of all these Yankees going to the IL is that Greg Bird isn't one of them.
  21. At this point it's just comical. I guess Wade or Urshela takes his spot?
  22. Swinging and missing so much must really put a strain on your arms
  23. FB is only at 91. Supposedly his spin rate took a nosedive at the end of last year too. Not good for a guy whose only plus pitch is a fastball.
  24. Ah okay. For some reason I thought you meant that YOU put in 49 entries. I thought that was kind of excessive but I figured you were a gambling addict.
