    The Sox knew he was not going to stay at 3b and eventually move to first when he signed his contract, which was why their first offer resembled the extension Matt Olson had just signed with Atlanta. No one in the organization thought of signing him to that deal because he played a great 3b, or even an acceptable 3b. They signed him because he was an elite hitter and because Bogaerts and Betts left for very little. Moving to 1b appeared to always be a Sox goal, but Devers refused to accept it. Historically, Tampa is not a team that begs for top prospects in any trade but rather burns you by taking players often viewed as mediocre and expendable. BTV suggests fair trades might be for Kyle Harrison or David Hamilton. I’d assume they don’t want Hamilton, but I never thought they’d want Jeffrey Springs.     We have also heard how this was the first 9 game road sweep for the Sox since 1977. And how the Sox beat up on weaker teams so it’s not impressive. But yet this road trip was also the first time the Sox have swept 3 consecutive series in 3 different time zones, which is not only crazy but also questionable scheduling. (The ‘77 Sox road trip was a west coast swing that included an expansion team.)
