  1. Why do people think Hunter Greene is available and Cincy is punting after their first postseason appearance in years? Yes some clickbait-oriented writer wrote an article about him being dealt. I could go publish one about the benefits of trading Roman Anthony (actually I don’t have to; Ive read several) but that didn’t mean the Sox are considering it…
  2. Shouldn’t the Sox replace Betts’ and Bogaerts’ production first? Especially if we’re counting what Devers did for another team. Abd what about Sale? When do we replace Sale?!? And Schwarber! How do we get those 7 home runs back plus the 187 he hit for Philly?! Breslow has some work to do…
  3. Weren’t the Sox better off without it? I know some folksy simpletons like to say that’s irrelevant because the starting pitching carried. Those people must get whiplash watching the point whiz by. This isn’t fantasy baseball where the Sox are chasing categories. Right now, DH is likely set with a combination of Yoshida, Casas and Gonzalez. Or maybe Duran if he doesn’t get traded. The Sox are probably set in 8 positions, possibly allow 9 if they never move Duran and make the unwise but still possible move of putting Rafaela at 2b. Or SS…
  4. What he is saying is he doesn’t believe in the predictions and projections of other people, unwashed heathen that they be…
  5. Apparently. Maybe the Sox aren’t cheap. Maybe they aren’t signing anyone because they’re a team of selfish divas that don’t want their playing time jeopardized…
  6. Wouldn’t that imply he has multiple peaks?
  7. How is Sonny Gray not a #2?
  8. Stop. He’s not a bad player; he just shouldn’t be a starter. I’d take Hamilton on my bench any day. And even as a strong side platoon player if I ran a small market team. Hamilton was worth 2.4 bWAR in 2024 in only 98 games and 300 PA. That’s similar to the kind of production you get in 150 games and 600+ PA from Isaac Paredes, and some folks think he is worth Duran in a trade…
  9. Why is that a good thing? Who didn’t like the Southpaw Killer?
  10. I can’t assume a conditional statement. (If the Reds are willing…) I don’t think Paredes falls into the same category as Lodolo when it comes to trading away Duran. I (incorrectly?) have pegged Lodolo as his ceiling for a starting pitcher return. I stick with that. If Breslow is asking for Ragans, he is aiming high and looking at SP. But part of that post was the extremely likely scenario that Cincy was not trading Lodolo for Duran…
  11. It was 60 in Chicago yesterday. December 26 + Chicago + 60 degrees is like it being 110 in Houston. It is supposed to be 20 here tomorrow. Balance restored…
  12. If by always, you mean NEVER, I agree…
  13. The team didn’t create any drama; Devers did. Telling a player to play DH doesn’t create drama. And Devers jumped the gun and created all the drama about a move to 1b before he was even asked. Mookie let the Dodgers bounce him around the field just to let other players play. Devers wouldn’t even switch to cover for an injured teammate. I’m glad he’s gone…
  14. No, Devers “me first” attitude cost us Devers. If he shut up, grabbed a first baseman’s mitt and signed the team “Get Well Soon” card for Casas, he’d still be here. But instead he went on some whiny rant about having to play EVERY POSITION, when in reality, he was asked to play just one. What a terrible teammate. Bregman just allowed us to find out about it faster…
  15. If the Sox are acquiring the infielder to complete their lineup - and not even an expensive one - why are they including JH Hicks? I get you don’t like his one partial season in Boston, but players bounce back. And given that former 2024 Sox washout Brad Keller has an $11mill AAV, replacing Hicks isn’t likely to be noticeably cheaper. Plus last year, he wasted time in the Giants’ rotation. Maybe getting back into full time reliever mode will work out for Hicks. And as you live in/near Houston, do you really think the Astros give up Matthews in that deal? For a package headlined by Rafaela?
  16. Orioles marketing department? 😉 Grayson Rodriguez (238 IP in the last two years) is “always injured.” Not sure how Shane Baz (286 IP in the last 5 years) is the solution to that problem. Im not as high on Taylor Ward as the solution to. RHH power issue, considering he has topped 25 HRs just once and is already in his 30s. It’s possible Baltimore sees something in his swing that will play well at Camden. But acquiring Ward - especially because he’s also an outfielder - would absolutely not put me over the moon. Alonso certainly checked a few boxes for Sox’ needs. And as a 1b, was less likely to command a 6 or 7 year deal. But missing out on him doesn’t faze me much.
  17. I think once he chose the name he didn’t have much on the way of choice…
  18. Very possible. Also not necessarily a bad thing…
  19. If you truly believe the Sox won’t go over 3 years for anyone, then Boras would not be in Breslow’s Contacts folder…
  20. As much as I value Duran, the Sox have a better chance of dealing him for Galileo than they do for either Hunter - Greene or Brown. And while Tolle and Philips are nice adds, no. That deal makes zero sense for Houston, who isn’t going to trade a win-now contributor in Brown for a win-now contributor in Duran plus a pair of win-later candidates. Same goes for Greene. Lodolo seems like the best candidate. Possibly only candidate in a two team trade. Trading Duran for Paredes (whom I like at Fenway) and a reliever is like spending $20 on a stick of gum. Lodolo or 3 teams if the Sox want a SP for Duran…
  21. While I don’t see Duran getting a #2 starter directly, if AZ balked at him straight up for Marte, f*** them.. Duran was worth 10.8 fWAR in his only two seasons as a full time starter, putting him 0.1 fWAR behind Marte, Corbin Carroll, Elly de la Cruz and ahead of Trea Turner in that timeframe. Duran is a good player, and has been doing as well as a lot of those “why can’t we get players like that” types. I get why Breslow wants a lot..
  22. Especially the Mets. Far and away the worst spenders in MLB. Have you seen that current roster? That has to be the worst use of $320million since The Electric State….
  23. Or landing $2billion TV deals. The Sox might not soend as much as they can and should, but the playing field still wouldn’t be level…
