  1. Wood is basically Roman Anthony. But with less plate discipline…
  2. I am assuming more details were exchanged in actual conversations…
  3. The first thing that leaps out at me is - Breslow did definitely try to cleanup his outfield glut. Duran’s name was thrown around all off-season. But I don’t recall any decent offers for him. And trading Duran for the sake of trading Duran felt like a bad idea…
  4. Probably should have thought of that before he dropped $67mill on a journeyman reliever and a middle-aged catcher. And then his thrice-released cleanup hitter flopped? He has recently summoned a human-Kodiak Bear hybrid named Felix Reyes who might satiate his bloodlust for offense for a bit…
  5. I’m ok with that assessment. If you have him batting 2-3,it’s not good. But in the 5-6 range? Ideal. Having him bat fourth just raises questions about your lineup. Especially given the current usage of the 4th spot around MLB…
  6. Is Bregman an A/A+ player? Should I say, is he still one? He certainly was one a few years ago, and he’s still good. If he isn’t one, who is on the Cubs? The Phillies have three in Harper, Schwarber and Turner. They’re also the worst offense in MLB to date. You might grade Contreras higher than I would, but he is giving you reason to right now…
  7. If you like a brief sysnopsis of your post, I would say it’s that you claim it’s not about spending as much money as possible, but from there on it was straight up about spending as much money as possible. Especially the part where you ask why keep Bello, Mayer, Tolle types if you think they are not going to be All Stars. The reason is - you need cheaper talent to be able to afford All Stars. Look at the Mets. They have the expensive All Star part down quite well. And no good talent surrounding it…
  8. As well as the next two, if that obvious pattern stays intact…
  9. Roman was a 3 bWAR guy last year. Only 2.7 fWAR, but, hey. 71 games, right? The last guy was more about himself than his team.
  10. Roman, Arias, Witherspoon and Valera for Woods? Or just the latter three? Either way, one side isn’t making that trade…
  11. I don’t care if he’s the face of the franchise or not. They’re had someone else filling that void, but he was more about himself than the team. He’s a good player- likely their best - who receives unfair criticisms …
  12. Braiden “the Kraken” Ward! It’s time to unleash …. The Kraken. And send Durbin to a Worcester for a bit…
  13. He is actually hitting the ball well. While he has 25 strikeouts, he also has 16 walks. He actually is showing every sign of living up to the hype except from people who measure leadoff hitters with RBI…
  14. Anyone who says “blow it all up and start over” would be the first person complaining if that actually happened…
  15. Get on base (.500 OBP), and steal bases, which is how teams without power score runs? Also he has INF experience…
  16. Oh. The link in the article goes to the wrong Eduardo Rivera, this one a RHP. I see why now. MLBTR does that kind of thing all the time…
  17. Tom Werner’s explanation for the full throttle comment was even stupider and somehow less honest…
  18. They meant “he fielded like his glove was made of solid gold”…
  19. Surprised no one mentioned it, but maybe the Sox should try to kick start this offense by calling up their very own Spring Training Hero, your friend and mine, the one and only Braiden Ward! (mild applause break)
  20. The thing with IKF, you get the glove. Hes not a viable platoon option if you’re trying to get right-handed hitting. You hit him 9th and accept the defense as his contribution for the day. But Monasterio? He has made 5 starts this year, batting 2, 2, 2, 5, 6, all vs LHP. Does anyone think Cora is even aware he is giving top batting order spots and a DH role vs lefties to a guy WITH A .298 OPS VS LHP?!?
  21. Agreed, but the Sox manager thinks it’s criminally negligent to allow left-handed hitters to face left-handed pitchers…
  22. Doesn’t say much about Cora. Especially the part where you say Story is the better defensive shortstop because he has more RBIs..
  23. Actually, Paredes does really have the perfect Fenway Swing. And unlike those other three, he was available. (Yes Schwarber was a free agent, but there was better chance of the Liberty Bell leaving Philadelphia than Kyle.)
