  1. Actually, it isn’t practical. You need a DH for all 162 games. No team “rests” a starter every game. And most teams don’t have that many starters they would want to play at DH. The Sox might “rest” Contreras or Anthony at DH, but even if they did it 20 times each - which is a lot - that still means they need a DH for the other 122 games. Are they going to use Rafaela at DH 20 times? Or Mayer? The whole “use the DH to rest players” thing is a fantasy created by fans who hate watching players get an occasional day off. But a big part of the reason those players get a day off is also to keep the bench players active. DH is a position. Whether or not Yoshida is a good DH is a different matter entirely. Just because many players settle into the DH role doesn’t change this. The same can be said about 1b and closer, but no one views them as a “resting spot” for other players…
  2. Outside of Hunter Goodman, who? Are you counting Yordan Alvarez as a part time DH because he was injured? I know hou’re counting Ivan Herrera, who caught maybe 6 games after May 1. Thats not really rotating players in the position. Who else?
  3. Then what was your point? I thought you were saying Yoshida was a waste because he’s a dedicated DH and most teams “rotate the DH,” an unexplained phrase that is equally unsupported when attributed to most teams…
  4. So who really rotates the DH? You never answered the question. Most teams seem to have a starting DH just like they have a starting SS or a starting RF. It’s not a position you use to “rest” players like fans want. So again - who has a rotating DH?
  5. What is St. Louis asking for?
  6. Campbell would be trade fodder if he didn’t sign that extension. They’ll want him putting up the gaudiest numbers in AAA possible before they deal him …
  7. I think he can be pushed off the roster if the off-season pans out unexpectedly. But the fact that he hadn’t already been DFAd does indicate he is the current front runner for a bench role…
  8. That’s why I blamed Cora, and not you…
  9. Maybe but he certainly does have power. I saw him hit the longest home run to center field Ive ever seen at Wrigley. Hes not much of a 3b. If he was, a Casas/Vientos swap might make more sense…
  10. It is? Who does that? I keep hearing year after year teams are getting away from having full time DHs. Yet Ohtani, Schwarber, Yordan Alvarez, Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, Brent Rooker, Seiya Suzuki, Hunter Goodman, Ivan Herrera, and Chritian Yelich all exist…
  11. I don’t think he is unique among owners that way, either …
  12. Actually not true. Most actual trades fit their model. Probably because teams all use something similar. It’s a simple model of projections (I’m guessing in fWAR) vs salary. You don’t think teams use that stuff or something similar when making trades? And I’ve thrown a few out there that have actually happened in real life. I’m sure I’m not alone among their users able to make that claim. But more important, it’s just a forum where people comment on the posted proposals, much like this. Are forums only supposed to exist that have real world impact? Exactly what have you said on this forum that’s altered the course of the Red Sox? Or me? Or any of us?
  13. No. They plan to clone Corbin Carroll this off-season. The newly fertilized embryos should be ready to join the original in the Arizona outfield by opening day. Opening Day, 2048, that is…
  14. Duran started every game but he was worse vs LHP than Abreu, only hit .233 in September, and doesn’t contribute defensively as well. It was a bad call by Cora…
  15. Abreu hit LHP better than Duran and close to Eaton. Your brief summary of his at-bats more proves my point - that he needed more at bats, especially in that stadium
  16. You can’t go start lower than the CBO. Why did Abreu only get 5 ABs? Sogard, Refsnyder and Romy. GG outfielder, second on the team in home runs and Hes in the lineup less than the bench bats. And I don’t want to hear the “Yankees started two lefties.” Duran started against them and was worse than Abreu vs LHP. Eaton’s OPS vs LHP didn’t justify a platoon with Abreu either. It was a bad decision made multiple times…
  17. Especially since Cole quit on the Yankees before the season even started…
  18. Unless he was too busy whining to the press. The Sox had a few injuries that postseason, and we all know how much Raffy hates being asked to pitch in and help his own team..
  19. Some starters struggle I every postseason series. But you can’t get 1/3 of your PT from bench players and assume that was full strength…
  20. I think a lot of people upset about the postseason seem to have forgotten that 32 the Sox 96 postseason at bats went to Eaton, Romy, Refsnyder, Lowe and Sogard, who combined to produce only 6 hits…
  21. Oh he was trying to trash Refsnyder until we all said good things so he jumped on that bandwagon instead…
  22. Doesn’t matter who said it. Eaton’s splits are nothing impressive and he lacks the same skillset as Refsnyder. Now Eaton does possess some skills Refsnyder is sorely lacking, like fielding, throwing, running. If Cora prefers Eaton’s over Refsnyder, I can understand it if it’s for those skills. But not it it’s about splits…
  23. Because the weather never changes. ”It’s going to be unbearably hot and unbearably humid, but on the bright side at 4pm there will be a torrential downpour that makes you think it’s time to gather two of every animal, but you will only get cats ready by the time it ends at 4:05. “Also, as we go thru this everyday, do I have to keep telling you to stop gathering cats that have been fixed?”
  24. Ummm yes it is. All those would do is make a fatter Papi. The only cure for aging is death…
