  1. 2023-2024 Crochet 4.3 bWAR Woo 3.0 bWAR I get worrying about Crochet’s injury history, price tag, and extension. But Woo has not been better. Plus Woo has been helped by his ballpark and the best pitch framer in the AL. Like I said, I see pros and cons to both…
  2. He got crucified figuratively by a bunch of dopes (that i wholeheartedly agreed with at the time) that figured Pivetta was a no-brainer to accept the QO. I didn’t crucify Hugh, but I definitely didn’t agree. And I thought he might have been a little high at the time…
  3. But you left out what should be a very important factor - Crochet is a better pitcher…
  4. I’d be surprised if he went that cheap. Kikuchi is an older and much lesser pitcher and he already got 3 yrs $63mill. Pivetta might be looking at $100mill+ over 4 years…
  5. You left out the words “more serious”. I can name numerous pitchers who injured themselves pitching in such a fashion that it ended their careers prematurely. And for every one I name, you can probably add two more. But how many hitters can you name whose career ended after a swinging injury? And I mean swinging the bat, not wife swapping. Although if you can name someone with a wife swapping injury, please do. Please…
  6. Why Woo over Crochet? I see clear pros and cons for both…
  7. I’d consider him an option if the Sox signed Soto or Adames and we’re losing that top pick anyway. Losing some lower pick for Manaea doesn’t feel so bad…
  8. I’m thinking of starting a Twitter War with Alex Bregman…
  9. I suggested Manaea last year (among plenty of others; I’m no prophet.), and you didn’t like him then. Is this personal between you and Sean?
  10. Chris Sale broke a rib throwing a pitch, which is obviously the action that fills his wallet. Did it derail his career?
  11. Yoshida’s surgery and questionable availability for the early season probably make a trade of him pretty unlikely, too. Casas is another candidate, but that idea was shot down quickly by Breslow. So that probably means it’s him on the block…
  12. Speaking of recklessly and wantonly, the Angels signed Yusei Kikuchi (2.2 bWAR in the past 3 years) to a 3 year deal worth $63mill. That goes a long way towards explaining why Pivetta (6.6 bWAR over the past 3 years) turned down a QO…
  13. Hopefully not that whiny b*tch Alex Bregman…
  14. DH, trade, or maybe he has an “accident”…
  15. Finally!! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/red-sox-reportedly-considering-moving-rafael-devers-to-first-base.html
  16. Ah the American Cold War strategy…
  17. This whole “we need a right-handed bat!!” is such a BS smokescreen. The Sox had a higher OPS vs left-handed pitching than the AL champion Yankees did. Fix the defense. Team is 13th in OPS against lefties and the Sox need to get right handed hitting STAT!! But they’re 23rd in OAA and that’s not an issue…
  18. Campbell pitched SIX INNINGS last year. Why are people giving up on him?
  19. Is that his health insurance carrier?
  20. Soto has more walks than strikeouts for his career. Since he joined the league, only three hitters with qualified amount of PA have more walks than strikeouts. Soto, Bregman, and Arraez. And only Soto has hit 200HRs while doing so…
  21. And what hat he wants on his bust in Cooperstown…
  22. bWAR/162 Grich 5.7 Pedroia 5.6 Whitaker 5.1 So maybe as questionable?
  23. Career cut short. But he had the potential to be either in the Hall or a Lou Whitaker-esque questionable omission…
  24. My rankings are as follows 1. Carson Kelly 2. Christian Vazquez 3. Nick Fortes - listed by MLBTR as a non-tender candidate. 4. Kyle Higashioka. Decent framing. Weak blocking. All are defensive upgrades over Wong. Wong’s bat and versatility does give him some usefulness and some trade value if the Sox pursue a pair of catchers.
  25. The money is higher than preferred, but a reunion with Christian Vazquez does make sense. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/christian-vazquez-543877 Minnesota is cutting salary, but Vazquez only has one year left. So while he will be blocking pitches, he won’t be blocking Teel. His BTV surplus value of negative $4.3mill doesn’t suggest a trade will be costly…
