  1. I missed that. But then I just got back from Minneapolis…
  2. 5’7” is pushing it. It’s like looking at Andrew Vaughn listed at 6’0” and thinking “Right. If feet were now 10 inches instead of 12.”
  3. Definitely Story needs some benching. That he has 9 hits in his last 21 at bats just shows how badly he fits in with this team…
  4. The Rays scored 9 runs in the third inning tonight. I was going to say the Rays got more runs in that inning than the Sox will get in this series. Then it occurred to me that might also be true about the 4 runs the Rays scored in the second…
  5. So… pitching debut for Rob Refsnyder tonight?
  6. That’s not a flattering story about Grandal. Anderson certainly has shown he has some temper issues as well, but Grandal should have known better. And there’s no excuse for leaving a day early outside of certain family issues. (Or you’re a SP.) Catcher off day or not, you dont leave your team short-handed.
  7. Merloni is an excellent call here…
  8. Duran has a sub.600 OPS and his defense appears to have reverted to 2023 and before. Why is he repeatedly handed the starting role? Plenty of time left, but if anyone suspected 2024 was a fluke year for Duran, he’s done nothing to disprove them so far…
  9. Cora could certainly push for Mayer and Anthony, but for all we know he is asking for them daily. Can’t fault him for that lack of call up. Casas is a slow starter, but why make it even slower?
  10. I think I’d be happier if he’d just stop platooning Casas with a guy who hits LHP worse than Casas does. I’d’ also recommend not platooning defensive question mark Refsnyder with Abreu, but I at least know why he does it
  11. This game, fine. But this year I don’t like him much and he does hinder the team with his bizarre dedication to platoons. So yes he is frustrating me this season…
  12. Pinch runner to get the potential lead run into scoring position while Cora does nothing to move his struggling offense this series, except bench players with favorable match ups…
  13. People focus on errors, but Rafaela throwing to third base there is the kind of bad defense no one should tolerate…
  14. The problem is the almost complete lack of any hard hit ball. Story actually did hit his double pretty hard, but everything else on this game was lackluster and routine. The White Sox defense isn’t being tested, unless you count their trying to stay awake due to lack of action…
  15. Maybe today, but not with that physique in his playing days in Boston…
  16. While true, Ron Roenicke certainly wasn’t the problem with the 2020 team. A roster so weak Ryan Weber was the number 3 starter and the big offensive addition that off-season was Jose Peraza were both much larger factors. Connie Mack and Casey Stengel could have been resurrected to lead that team and it was still going to come in last. That the Sox won 24 out of 60 games that year was a pretty disposing result…
  17. Or the Sox could bat Campbell leadoff in from of Devers, Bregman, Abreu, Casas, etc. and bench/rest/(trade?) the sub-.600 OPS that seems to have forgotten how to field filling that role in the lineup now…
  18. Sabol isn't a major leaguer. Newcomb isn't a major league starter. Casas is worthless in April…
  19. And what if Mayer - neither a bastion of health nor a Gwynn/Arraez contact hitter - isn’t any better? Or is worse?
