  1. Exactly. We will all make it to middle school someday!!
  2. It was one thing to watch Bradley throw a ball from 350 feet away that made it to the plate in the air, but sailed up the line 10 or do feet. But Anthony’s throw last night looked like a right-handed outfielder seeing what it was like to throw left-handed…
  3. Story was 4 for 37 before last night and was making a good argument to start IKF over him…
  4. Cora might be more than “part of” the problem. He seems to be a big part of the organizational dysfunction. But if he both he and Breslow get canned, i won’t mind. Just firing Breslow does nothing but add to the continuing parade of GM/CBO types that distract from the fact that Cora has missed the playoffs more often than not, and quite often does so to teams with lesser rosters…
  5. I admit thr failure to add Alonso/Schwarber type didn’t bother me, although the addition of Durbin didn’t thrill me either. But either way, the strength of this team was supposed to SP. And especially Bello and Suarez have failed to deliver, wuth the only bright spot bring it’s only been 2 starts for each. Also the neglected bullpen hasn’t done much either…
  6. Even that’s not a good reason…
  7. To be fair, he said “we are 3.5 games behind looking ok”. I took that to mean the Sox are 3.5 games behind mediocrity, and just a different way of expressing how bad the team is. The only thing benefiting the Sox right now is the rest of the non-Yankee teams in the East are also all underperforming. The Jays just came off a 1-5 stretch against the Rockies and White Sox. Baltimore is 4-6 against another soft schedule. Tampa’s bullpen has given up more runs than ExLax. The only real bright spot for Boston is at least they’ve been playing badly against playoff teams from last year…
  8. We can call for Henry to be fired for limiting the budget. But plenty of teams have spent far less money to go better than 2-8…
  9. Outfielders with 10 years in MLB do those drills. It’s extremely difficult to master charming a groundball in stride and fielding it with your proper leg forward so you can come up throwing, all without ever stutter-stepping. Plenty of experienced outfielders still fail at this task. Not everyone can be JD Drew out there…
  10. Those “mathematicians” are lead by Alex Cora. There’s a big reason things didn’t change during the last two regime changes. Not to mention there are no teams left not using analytics to some degree. Yes, the Dodgers do use them. In fact, the Red Sox are arguably declining in their usage (or at least their execution) largely due to front office instability, expectations of immediate results, poor communication, mixed priorities, internal conflicts, and probably a mix of straight up organizational dysfunction.
  11. I don’t agree with this assessment at all. First of all, there’s a big jump from “no All Star bats” to “AAA team.” Second, Duran, for example, is certainly a proven All Star, as is Contreras. Third, the Sox bench is probably better than any Sox bench of recent years. Not sure why folks highlight IKF as a weak bench player when he’s spent nearly his entire career to date as a starter, including a stint as the starting SS for a 99 win ALCS runner up. The Sox lineup might be less than the Sox traditionally run out there, but it isn’t the worst lineup in MLB, or at least it shouldn’t be. But it’s been performing like the worst one. The rotation was supposed to be among the best, but after Crochet and Early (who was not even in that rotation on paper) has been a massive disappointment. And the bullpen, largely ignored all winter, has been even worse…
  12. Yeah, another one telling everyone else to participate in a boycott they won’t join…
  13. Oh no one will get fired. The closest might be a July 31st fire sale…
  14. Fire Cora. Ive been posting on various Sox forums for far longer than I care to admit, and this is the first time I’ve called for a manager to be fired…
  15. At that depth, why would Anthony need a cut off man? Two outs and the lead run is barely around third. He had a play at the plate…
  16. Cora was hired for his knowledge and application of analytics. If there is a team in Boston figuring out how to apply them, Cora is definitely part of it and very likely running it. Cora gets frequently painted as the victim of everyone else’s decisions. If he’s really the non-participant his defenders think he is, then why do the Sox need him?
  17. Anthony was good defensively in the minors. And here’s what soxprospects.com said about him: “Defense: Strong defensive instincts make up for only average foot speed. Takes efficient routes when moving laterally, but on occasion will be a step slow reading balls over his head. Has primarily played center field, but started playing corner outfield more often in July 2024. Profiles best in the corner outfield long-term, but could play center at least at the beginning of his major league career if needed. Potential above-average defensive profile in the corner and average in center field. Arm: Above-average arm strength. Not a stand-out arm, but plenty for any outfield spot.”
  18. You do realize Henry benefits if you watch the game on TV or an internet source, right?
  19. The culprit was Anthony. Durbin shouldn’t have been involved in the play at all. Really though, maybe Whitlock should walk fewer hitters…
  20. This is why I don’t rate these trades like this. Too much is based on immediacy and depends on external factors. “Player X had a bad year” isn’t necessarily the fault of the GM/CBO, especially if his previous year(s) were all pretty good. Stop rating deals like this. You missed the biggest flaw off the off-season, which was Breslow COMPLETELY IGNORED THE BULLPEN. This is a bigger deal than whether not a one year gamble on Walker Buehler paid off. Stop looking at what he does and start looking at what he didn’t. Because all I see on here is people rating his luck and ignoring his negligence…
  21. After that throw, Roman Anthony should return any defensive awards he has ever won…
  22. So far, the lineups seem to have been very anti-analytical…
  23. Ultimately he was the chief consolation prize for San Fran taking the entire contract…
  24. Mostly the pitchers. Suarez, Skenes, Logan Webb, Matthew Boyd, Imanaga, etc…
