  1. And even after they kept Monasterio, IKF still gets the nod…
  2. Another way to look at it is - batting orders never really meant anything but this was proven through analyzing them. Of course, the original statement is actually just incorrect. It’s not that batting orders were ever meaningless; they were just always misunderstood and not constructed optimally. The previous notion of using one of your better hitters in the 3-spot - the batting order position most likely to come up with 2 outs and no one on base - is a good example of questionable strategy…
  3. Apparently it’s: Anthony LF Story SS Duran DH Contreras 1b Durbin 3b Abreu RF Kiner-Falefa 2b Narvaez C Rafaela CF
  4. Campbell was the pre-2025 BA #4 prospect in MLB. Baseball Prospectus had him #3 overall. Again, in all of MLB, not just on the Sox…
  5. Teams quite often don’t. Probably feel overall that the risk of moderately overpaying a few who don’t live up to the hype is far less costly than waiting for players to establish themselves and realize their worth. The Sox are paying Anthony and Campbell a total of $180mill. Anthony alone might be worth a contract more than double that total in a couple years…
  6. Honestly not as great as you think. There are plenty of top 5 prospects who simply never panned out. A few names that leap to mind include Corey Patterson, Jesus Montero, Ruben Mateo, Lastings Milledge, Bobby Seay, Brandon Wood, etc.
  7. It was never applied 100%, because even some prospects eventually reveal their lower ceilings. Go back and look at any BA Top 100 list, and you will notice roughly 25-30 names on each list never make it tonMLB beyond a September call up, and another 25-30 names settle in as utility infielders and middle relievers for however long their careers are…
  8. This is a valid point. MLB grades and ranks their umpires every year and presumably places them in some tiered system. You should get more challenges when your game is called by anyone in the Angel Hernandez Bracket…
  9. Rushing is a good example, I guess. Of course the catcher learning curve is different, but it’s odd that they keep him on the bench while he is blocked and is such good trade bait. I suppose Drake Baldwin kind of fit in here, too, last year. Dominguez has already been demoted this year. His benching last year felt more like he simply lost a starting job..
  10. What top prospects are growing on MLB benches? I can’t think of any off the top of my head. We’ve seen some of these early extension guys spend a big chunk of their careers in the minors, like Scott Kingery.
  11. Exactly. And I am in favor of trying to lock up as many young, unestablished potential contributors as possible. These type of failed contracts are rarely as prohibitive as free agent failed contracts…
  12. Unless he pans out. Imagine a recent history where the Sox signed Mookie to a similar extension before he established himself and realized what he was worth. Signing a consensus top three prospect to a contract with an AAV about $1mill or so north of what it takes to sign Isaiah Kiner-Falefa is a worthwhile gamble every time…
  13. And that it’s only 2026 and they’ve already given up on the 2023 4th round pick and former consensus top 3 prospect because he had a bad month and his utility infielder AAV now looks like an overpay…
  14. But my issue was the fact that the Dodgers - the team that controlled May and knew him best - gave up on him during a pennant chase. And with like 75 games left in the season and a rotation far from immune to injury. Yet they still traded May and traded him not for any immediate help, but for an A-ball first baseman. My point is - May’s availability should have superseded his pitch mix…
  15. My only gripes with Judge are that he wears pinstripes and crushes Sox’ pitching…
  16. I’d think Kahnle is more prepared than Coulombe. At least Kahnle was pitching in the WBC…
  17. Watson either makes the team or the Sox have to work out a deal (player or cash exchange) if they want to keep him. Samaniego is Sox property no matter what…
  18. I thought my saying so implied sarcasm. Outside of 5Gold(or maybe not), I rank at or near the top of the Pro-Shida list…
  19. All the more reason to DFA Yoshida!
  20. It might be an issue if Jarren Duran didn’t exist…
  21. If those ocean liners could afford to bring another spare ocean liner along with them, don’t you think they would? Yoshida’s big obstacle is his contract that pays him substantially more than a typical 4th OF.. But you have repeatedly argued that the Sox can certainly spend above and beyond their payroll. Now you’re backing down on that stance?
  22. I’ve sort of pointed that out multiple times…
