  1. The main (only?) reason he might be available https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/08/diamondbacks-teammates-reportedly-frustrated-with-ketel-marte.html
  2. It’s not about making Mayer succeed; it’s about making the Red Sox succeed…
  3. Ummmm… no. Last year: Suarez plus O’Hearn - 6.6 oWAR Bregman plus Duran - 7.0 oWAR
  4. I think even thats a bit much, plus the Sox are very thin in the infield right now…
  5. The economical (re: cheap) solution is a Winker/Refsnyder platoon in LF. Winker is one of those “plate discipline” guys with decent numbers vs RHP. His best days are probably gone and he’s not much for defense. Also, he might be a complete tool. But he works the count and fits any budget. But he also might not necessarily be an upgrade over Yoshida in LF…
  6. Most likely either Mayer or Bregman returning…
  7. Tigers now find they only have one year of Skubal left. Are they still as willing to go heavy at 3b with Skubal still unresolved? Houston filled the void he left. What is Bregman’s market? Whichever of the Dodgers or Yankees that misses out on Tucker?
  8. And even the shortened package I threw out there is “more than Crochet.” Duran alone has lots of value. Not sure why this is overlooked. Hes under control as long as Greene is and has been worth 13.3 bWAR in the last 2 years. It’s also worth asking if the Reds would want 4 players requiring 40 man roster spots.
  9. So I ran this through BTV. Greene has a surplus value of $76.1mill. A package of Duran ($73.1mill), Abreu ($33mill), Campbell ($26.4mill), Clarke ($16.1mill), Perales ($11.1mill) and Romero($9.1mill) has a total surplus value of $169mill. For reference, Paul Skenes “only” has a surplus value of $130mill. Duran alone has roughly the same value as Greene. While I’d be shocked at a 1-for-1 deal here, tjis 6-for-1 seems crazy. I’m sure Cincy would love it, but if they insisted on it, hard pass. Just call Pitt and get a pitcher who has topped 126 IP more than once. Maybe Duran, Clarke, Garcia and Perales? Dealing two starters from a playoff team plus 4 prospects (including 3 ranked ones) feels like an unprecedented overpay…
  10. Hicks was the one player Breslow talked up after the trade. Most of us just assumed he was a contract deadweight sent back as part of taking Devers whole deal. Nope. Apparently Hes a high end reliever or something. Anyway, he going to the bullpen. Book it…
  11. I don’t think he opts outs. MVP and Jeff Passan do. So it’s 2-1 in favor right now. No word from Bregman, although after the last loss he did comment “it was an honor to put on this uniform,” which SOME PEOPLE think means he will opt out. Has he placed a full page ad in the Globe yet?
  12. So who knew this? And no one ever mentions him? https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/josh-bell-605137?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  13. And it’s fine that you would send him. It clearly would have worked. But my point is Hudson had plenty of reasons to hold him, and it did make sense for him to do so. Unlike a lot of brain dead pundits (media in its many firms, not you), I didn’t judge Hudson on what transpired and go too deep into the replays and say things lie “look how far away McMahon is! Eaton could have run 10 more feet down the line easy.” Hudson had a split second to decide on sending a runner on a ball that , STAYED IN THE INFIELD after a diving play. He had NO WAY of knowing if any play was going to happen. He played it safe. That’s not wrong. And for every “you always …” you throw out there, we both have probably seen dozens of examples where teams got burned doing exactly that, and those same brain dead pundits called them out…
  14. At least 4 inches above average…
  15. Ummm…. who? Is he a fan of mine?
  16. Indolent? I think I’m rather dolent…
  17. Cleveland did make the playoffs…
  18. If Eaton is not running full tilt, Hudson DEFINITELY should have held him up. I mean, Eaton was still a full 90 feet from home plate while Chisholm was on his feet. At that point, too much can go wrong. I get holding him. It’s not like Hudson knew Rice was going to misplay the bouncy throw. For all the complaints about the late Wendall “Windmill” Kim, one would think at least you miss him…
  19. I’m on board with this - just get the Dodgers out. Jays? M’s? Brew Crew? Fight amongst yourselves for the crown…
