  1. By that logic, Tristan Gray is safe, too…
  2. The Sox benched Youkilis in the 2007 WS games in Colorado. The 2013 Sox benched Napoli in games in St. Louis. In both cases, it was to keep Ortiz at 1b. The 2018 Sox did bench Bradley in games in LA. But they were able to because Betts could handle CF. But if there was no DH in the NL, today, would the Dodgers play Ohtani in LF? Worth pointing out in his entire MLB career, he has played one inning in LF. And thats his entire defensive contribution when not pitching…
  3. On the bright side, he hasn’t committed him there yet for 2027…
  4. Story has lost a step and his post-surgery arm isn’t what it used to be. Reportedly the Sox are looking for a 2b or 3b, but ideally it should be a SS or 3b. But I’d be shocked if they moved Story of SS tjis season…
  5. So now the question - who goes? Candidates include: Jovani Moran Nick Sogard Tristan Gray Tyler Uberstine Shane Drohan Other (specify)
  6. Or you cannot hit Major League pitching…
  7. BTV is using a projection that has him as a 2-2.1 fWAR player. If they have him getting paid $25-26mill in the next two years but only generating $37mill in WAR, there is your surplus value of $11mill. My guesses had him performing slightly better and getting paid slightly less..
  8. With Bellinger, Bichette, Valdez and Tucker still unsigned, rankings will change…
  9. Not really. In fact, with Crochet, Suarez, Bello, Sandoval, Crawford, Gray and Oviedo, I’m not sure how many of these starting pitchers have options left. I think Oviedo does..
  10. I could see Paredes surplus value at $17-24mill. Over the next 2 years, he probably makes $20-23 mill. In that time, he is probably worth 5-5.5 fWAR, valued at about $40-44mill A mean surplus value of $20.5 seems fair…
  11. Saw him a lot, too, during his brief stay in Chicago. Dead pull hitter. Has really good power when he pulls the ball. I thought his defense was nothing special. Hes not bad or anything. Just didn’t excel. Awful, awful haircut…
  12. Fans always overvalue their own. That said - Bello for Paredes straight up. Who says no? (Besides BTV…)
  13. On BTV, Bello plus Duran gets you Ketel Marte. Honestly, AZ would be stupid to turn that down…
  14. Based on what? Paredes makes more money (even if loses his arbitration, which he won’t), has fewer years of control, and accrues fewer WAR…
  15. Trade Duran for an infielder nowy
  16. BTV overvalued Duran? He has as many fWAR in the past two seasons as Ketel Marte and more than Trea Turner…
  17. I never knew the plural of Suarez. Thank you…
  18. He was out in the garage peppering the wall with bullets…
  19. I like Hoerner, who is an excellent all around 2b. Breslow, the former Cubs farm director, might have stronger preferences for Massachusetts native Matt Shaw, who was the Cubs first round pick in his final year with the organization…
  20. While he brought in a lot for 2013, it was on the heels of unloading a lot in 2012. And even then, not one of those contracts was longer than 3 years…
  21. Cherington didn’t have the same kind of free rein to spend. He had to juggle salaries just to get Marco Scutaro on the roster at one point…
