  1. And occasionally one of those worms from Tremors…
  2. Hot Pie: “It’s a long journey to Winterfell. Let me call 1-877-KARS 4 KIDS.”
  3. Ok so his name was Syrio Florel. I suppose his friends could have called him Florio, if anyone did. Certainly his enemies couldn’t, as they were probably all dead, since he was the First Sword of Braavos…
  4. Typo on my part. I meant to type “Benito Santiago, 1988”…
  5. Think of it as like what Florio told Arya to say when Death comes calling…
  6. Pasquantino is a Poor Man’s Mike Greenwell (RIP); he rarely strikes out because he rarely sees three pitches. There are a few others on here who use aggression as their form of plate discipline. Polanco was the underrated bat, although postseason exposure could change that. But he has no real position, at least not one he is good at. Josh Naylor is a 25 HR hitter the same way Yandy Diaz is one; he did it once. Hes a good hitter but not someone to fix a power outage. Plus he looks like the villain from a Spaghetti Western, and that needs to be held against him at some point…
  7. First of all, his dad is the rather forgettable Dante Bichette. Cavan Biggio is the nepo baby you’re confusing him with. Second, he can hit. Career OPS+ over 120. Third, he is currently the only player in MLB whose name rhymes with a Star Wars villain. At least until Garth Schmader makes his debut…
  8. Not if the new shortstop is some Edgar Renteria level disaster. As you previously suggested Bo Bichette, a very poor defensive shortstop, you might see it happen. And Bichette would be a good bat for Boston. But he is the one who should be playing 2b or (better yet) 3b…
  9. Ivan Rodriguez, 1999. He also won AL MVP that year…
  10. My thoughts on minor league defensive awards - the Red Sox Minor League Defensive Player of the Tear in 2016 was Rafael Devers. Was he good then? Or the rest of the org just really, really bad. Anyway, I hope Arias works out…
  11. Who are all these high home run/low strikeout guys the Sox need? Juan Soto is probably the closest thing, and he still strikes out 17% of the time. More home runs would be a good thing, but it’s more than likely going to come with more strikeouts…
  12. I don’t think Breslow is wild about Yoshida. I think if he adds any NPB players, they will be pitchers…
  13. Well, we got rid of a guy who didn’t like changing position. Marte has played 2b,SS, CF and maybe others without ever saying a word. But mention his mom (who died in 2017) and he needs a week off…
  14. Can the Brewers keep up the road perfection in the LCS’s so far?
  15. The main (only?) reason he might be available https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/08/diamondbacks-teammates-reportedly-frustrated-with-ketel-marte.html
  16. It’s not about making Mayer succeed; it’s about making the Red Sox succeed…
  17. Ummmm… no. Last year: Suarez plus O’Hearn - 6.6 oWAR Bregman plus Duran - 7.0 oWAR
  18. I think even thats a bit much, plus the Sox are very thin in the infield right now…
  19. The economical (re: cheap) solution is a Winker/Refsnyder platoon in LF. Winker is one of those “plate discipline” guys with decent numbers vs RHP. His best days are probably gone and he’s not much for defense. Also, he might be a complete tool. But he works the count and fits any budget. But he also might not necessarily be an upgrade over Yoshida in LF…
