  1. Great song.
  2. I can't stand Maddon. Maddon, Scioscia, Showalter - The Trifecta of dreadful managers. I think it's rather funny that Maddon was critical of the Angels FO being too reliant on analytics.
  3. Only because the strong foundation was already there. And Dave was only able to do what he did because the strong foundation was already there.
  4. It's interesting to note that the Rays now also have 12 blown saves. Our save % is much worse, but some of that has to do with the fact that the save and blown save stats are whack to begin with.
  5. We'll see where things stand closer to the trade deadline. If the Sox are out of it, I am 100% for trading away any player not in our long term plans.
  6. This post makes me happy.
  7. This post hurts me Bell. The team has a lot of work to do, but there is still a lot of season left. It's far too early to talk about selling off.
  8. Spending a lot of money does not guarantee a flag. It does typically guarantee that at some point, the team will be handcuffed by those large contracts and will have to reboot. Without those prospects, proven or not, the reboot just takes that much longer. Teams can easily win championships without spending $300M + on a player. It starts with a strong farm system. You know that. I'm not saying that a team should never trade away a prospect.
  9. Dombrowski's methods are liked by many on here. I understand because he gave us seemingly instant results. My contention is that the great majority of the work was done before Dombrowski arrived, and Dombrowski sowed the fruits of other people's hard labor. Either way, people like to see those big deals being made. I get it. I don't agree with it, but I get it.
  10. We'll see the next time a save situation comes up!
  11. My bad, it was Abraham, not Speier. Pete Abraham @peteabe · 6h Interesting Houck is warming after pitching 2 innings on Sunday. Maybe they're preparing him for a late-inning role as opposed to long relief. I think this is the direction the Sox are leaning towards. The way they have used Houck in the last 2-3 outings seems to be less of a piggy back role.
  12. This is why I stack my fantasy baseball team with Yankees players. If the Yankees are doing well, I at least get something good out of it. If the Yankees are stinking, who cares what my fantasy team is doing. FTR, I always pull against the Yankees. I am always willing to sacrifice my fantasy team for the good of baseball humanity.
  13. I hear you. I have mixed feelings about the extra wild card teams. I like it in some ways and dislike it others. I certainly understand and somewhat agree with the opinion against having too many teams make the postseason. OTOH, I also think it's a good thing to keep more teams in the race throughout the season.
  14. Yeah, I'm not happy about losing 4 of 7 to those two teams, but it happens. Since their 3-22 start, the Reds have gone 15-12, so they're playing much better baseball.
  15. I do not support this thread. Bad mojo.
  16. Speier brought up an interesting point about the Sox grooming Houck for the closer's role.
  17. Stop. You know there's a lot more to it than that.
  18. Couldn't disagree more.
  19. Frustrating game, to be sure. I think it's safe to say that this team goes as our offense goes. I still don't think our season has been about the bullpen. It's been about the offense.
  20. To be fair, I used to spend a lot more time posting. I miss not having as much time to post. It's one of my favorite things to do, honestly. But I won't complain about having people and things in my life that take precedence. School is out in 2 weeks, so I'm hoping to have more time then. I wish I could post while at work like a lot of you guys do. LOL
  21. I stopped reading at this point.
  22. And then there are the Phillies, who have had their two highest payrolls ever (by a pretty decent amount) the past two years. They finished 2 games over .500 last year and are currently 6 games under. Thanks Dave!
  23. IMO, credit has to go to Cashman for getting rid of Sanchez. There's no telling what effect that has had on the pitching staff, but I'm a strong believer that the guy behind the plate makes a huge difference.
  24. The Yankees may not lose another game the rest of the season. Until the postseason, of course.
