  1. I thought that would be the move as well, but apparently, they didn't want to demote Danish.
  2. I don't make wagers. But even if I were a betting person, I would never bet on the Red Sox. I won't even put Red Sox players on my fantasy team. LOL Just know that if it doesn't happen, you'll have the pleasure of letting me know that I was wrong.
  3. It doesn't sound like Big Nate is going to be ready any time soon, unfortunately. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I'm really excited about the return of Sale.
  4. I didn't understand this either, but a good point was made that the Sox are likely betting that Norwood would pass through waivers (especially with all the other teams having to cut one pitcher) and that they could stick Norwood in AAA as depth or whatever.
  5. The pen (and our pitching staff as a whole) was never expected to be the strength of this team. Our offense was. Most of our losses came when our offense wasn't scoring many runs. It's really difficult for any pitching staff to feel like they can't make a mistake because of the offense's inability to score any runs. Once our offense started scoring like they should, the pen giving up some runs usually does not matter. Yes, I know that the pen still blew some games, but 27-12 since May 10 isn't too shabby.
  6. I wouldn't attack you, but I did say that this was wrong on so many levels. Man is it going to be nice when the Sox once again eliminate the Yankees in the postseason.
  7. All part of the wackiness that makes those stats low on my list of preferred stats.
  8. This is yet one more reason that I'm pulling for the Yanks to lose against the Rays and the Jays. The Sox are taking care of business on their own. The only time I would want help from the Yankees is if it's at the end of the season and it's a mathematical must that the Yankees win in order for the Sox to make the playoffs. And in that case, the Yankees would lose, guaranteed. I'm not saying that I'm unhappy about the Sox passing the Rays, but I would have preferred the Yankees lost.
  9. You can't blame Yankees fans for being excited about their team. It's been a while for them (though comparing them to our 2004 might be stretching it a bit LOL.)
  10. I've heard the comparisons to the 1998 team as well and they are fair comparisons.
  11. I said "further" in the past, as in over 20 years ago. 2018 is not in the future but at least it's in this millennium.
  12. The better the Yankees play, the more blather there is.
  13. 100% with you Moon.
  14. He's been holding his own. A right handed outfielder is the one area that I thought we should have strengthened in the offseason, but so far it's been okay.
  15. For all of the hand-wringing about our bullpen, our bullpen situation is not nearly as dire as many people make it out to be. Yes, we need some reinforcement, but it is not a dire situation.
  16. I tend to agree. Fair or not, it's usually about who has options.
  17. Losing 1 and 2 run games is more about luck than anything else.
  18. Cora doing well is not going to handcuff Bloom.
  19. I also vote #1 easily. They are not there yet, but Bloom/Cora could rival Epstein/Francona.
  20. Only because Yankees fans like to live further in the past. Even with comparing this year's team to the 1998 team, I'm not allowing the Yankees to win the World Series this year.
  21. I understand the other side of the argument. The more teams you have making the playoffs, the more it takes away from the division winners. To be fair though, the division winners are not always the best teams in the league. There is something inherently wrong with an 88-win team making the playoffs over a 95-win team simply because they are in a different division. Also, randomness is such a huge factor in the outcome of baseball games that even after a 162 game schedule, it's very likely that the best teams are not the ones who end up in the postseason. So I'm okay with the expanded playoffs.
  22. You have every right to enjoy the ride. I keep thinking the Yankees have to cool off, but then they don't. As a Sox fan, I hate it. There are a lot of comparisons being made to the 2018 Sox season. The only difference is that I won't allow the Yankees to win the World Series. LOL
  23. It might be better for baseball, but it's not better for baseball humanity. It's certainly not better for Red Sox Nation, which is really all that matters.
  24. Oh no, I never cheer for any of the Yankees players. I am seriously not capable of doing so. I am always willing to sacrifice my fantasy team if it means the Yankees playing poorly. But at least if the Yankees do well, I get a little bit of consolation out of it. And even though the Sox would probably be better served at this point if the Yankees beat the Rays and the Jays, I am still pulling against the Yankees in every one of those series. With no offense to Thunder, his post about enjoying watching the Yankees good run is wrong on so many levels.
  25. Of course the bottom line is $$$. It's always about the money. Regardless, as a baseball fan, I find the season to be a lot more interesting and exciting when there are still many teams fighting for a playoff spot into September.
