  1. I agree with this. That being said, I think many of the so called 'stupid' plays weren't really stupid, they just didn't work out. I'm not saying we haven't had any stupid ones, just that I don't think we've had as many stupid ones as some posters believe we have.
  2. Hopefully, it was just a short acclimation period with Reed. He was pretty good with the Mets before being traded to us.
  3. I completely agree.
  4. Does it offset the Red Sox not winning? No, but it sure offers a lot of consolation. My motto is "Anyone but the Yankees." If the Yankees would have won the World Series that year, that's just adding insult to injury. I think the only thing that got me through that long offseason was the Yankees not winning. For that, Josh Beckett has a lifetime pass with me.
  5. Baseball is a funny game, but I like our chances with Sale on the mound. I hope we score early and often against Sabathia. Let's go!!!
  6. I'm thinking that the FO was planning on Devers as the long term solution at 3B with the possibility of him being called up late this year if necessary. They figured that between Pablo, Holt, Hernandez, etc., we could man 3B sufficiently. I was fine with that trade. In fact, I liked it. The ironic part about this is that if we hadn't traded Shaw, we probably wouldn't be enjoying Devers right now.
  7. I like it for the fact that it gives more credence to winning the division. Before, it really made no difference whether you got in as a division winner or a wild card winner.
  8. Yup. It's time to try him in some more high leverage situations. Thank goodness Sale is pitching tonight. He should be able to give the pen a bit of a breather.
  9. You never know, but if I'm not mistaken, Pom has left a game early more than once before with back spasms and has been able to make his next start. He was already feeling better a few innings later.
  10. Awesome win. Just awesome. As others mentioned, I think Reed's performance was huge. The Yankees could have put the game out of reach in the 7th. What Reed did to stop the bleeding allowed us to come back and win. Then he shut them down in the 8th. Good to see.
  11. I think the team has talked about running on Chapman in general, and that it's always something to keep in consideration if the situation arises. I'm guessing they did it on their own. Chapman had one big mental cluster beep in that game. Yankees fans are not pleased with Girardi's bullpen use last night.
  12. The problem is the impending cliff. When he rebuilds our farm system and has a contending team in place for 2020, I'll have a more positive view of him.
  13. So far, the rewards have outweighed the risks. Not by much, but they have.
  14. They have decided to go with Porcello.
  15. Let's do this! Get it done Sox!
  16. Just following along with MVP's logic.
  17. There are a lot of pitchers on the DL, I can tell you that.
  18. Nope, it's all about 20/20 hindsight.
  19. Our farm has more or less already been gutted. Who knows how much the Yankees were willing to give up? We can't afford to get into a prospect bidding war with them.
  20. Being concerned about an aspect of this team and relaxing and enjoying the ride are not mutually exclusive. Otherwise, there would not be a single person on this forum who could relax and enjoy the ride.
  21. Not one bit, but it takes a lot to change my mind. Trey Ball pitching so well last night certainly moves the meter though. (Joking of course. Bell, I'm looking at you.) I'm not sure that there are many cliff dwellers to begin with. Me, You, and Hugh? (That's kind of catchy, like You, Me, and Dupree LOL)
  22. Of course everyone is going to say aggressive, in hindsight, because he was safe. I can guarantee you that had he gotten thrown out, there would be several posts about how stupid Jackie was for trying to score on that play. Guaranteed.
