  1. I am trying to figure out what the heck "non-infectious positive COVID" is. I understand that maybe he received a false positive. Then why not just say false positive? I am surprised that he was allowed to return so quickly.
  2. I would love to have Porcello on our team. I'm wondering what kind of offers Porcello has received and what kind of money he is looking for. I am very surprised that he remains unsigned.
  3. Don't sleep on the Red Sox! We are a sneaky good team.
  4. Ha. Well played.
  5. I don't think that's possible.
  6. I'm with you Nick. I don't agree with the claims that the Sox extended Sale knowing that he was injured. That just doesn't make any sense.
  7. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. I have never had a problem with Sale's extension. As good of a pitcher as he is and can be, the contract is a good one.
  8. The "hot hand", in general, doesn't carry over.
  9. All fair points, Moon. I just don't think our starting pitchers are going to be pitching very deep into the games to start the season. I think we will need a lot of innings from the pen, and the last thing we want to do is overuse our relievers early in the season. I also have confidence in our projected bench guys to be enough.
  10. You sound worried, Jacko.
  11. From what I was reading earlier, JD doesn't typically demonstrate a lot of power in ST.
  12. I have confidence in him too. I think he will have a very JD like year.
  13. From everything I've read, he will bring a lot of energy to the team and will be a fan favorite. I am on board.
  14. It's interesting that the consensus here seems to be to go with 13 pitchers. Personally, I think going with 14 pitchers is an obvious choice. The bench guys are versatile enough to give Cora plenty of options. I'm thinking a lot of innings will need to be covered by the pen early on due to limited pitch counts of the starters.
  15. Are you calling me a wuss? If you are, I can't really argue with you. LOL
  16. The numbers strongly support pulling a starting pitcher after facing the line up twice, even if that pitcher was cruising. I can fully defend the decision to pull Snell. On a similar note, however, I would like to see a relief pitcher who cruised through his inning of relief be kept in the game for another inning.
  17. As I posted, I'm not saying the rules are bad rules. I understand and support the need to protect players from serious injury. That doesn't change my perception of today's players versus players from the past.
  18. That's what I was trying to say. The long man, though he could pitch multiple innings, was typically not good enough to be a starter. Some of today's relief pitchers are as good as a starting pitcher, though only for one or two innings.
  19. Yeah, the chances of the first and second pitcher facing the minimum number of batters is very slim.
  20. It could just be a timing thing. But yeah, to stop thinking about it is way easier said than done. The longer it goes on, the more it gets in his head.
  21. Based on the way the two have been hitting in ST? No, I would not switch Verdugo and Gonzalez. I'm still not convinced Kike should be in the leadoff spot, but I'll trust Cora to know what he's doing.
  22. I'm almost thinking we should print up the Five Aces t-shirts! LOL I like your optimism. I, too, think the team will pleasantly surprise Red Sox fans.
  23. Fair point. It might be a vision issue. It might be a mental issue where he's trying too hard and getting antsy. Whatever it is, let's hope he figures it out soon.
