  1. So why were those WPs? Sure the first was wide but his glove position was all wrong; you gotta catch that. The second one hit him in the shin on the fly. WP? Why? (Of course they were horrible pitches).
  2. If he's bad enough, I'm sure Henry can find a couple of starters to deal for him.
  3. Not showing up for workout is a myth perpetuated by the RS management, Here's what Will Clark says:https://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/sf-giants-will-clark-nsfw-rant-red-sox-broadcaster-20764770.php?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=68700dd32d6a270001fac245&fbclid=IwY2xjawLeAL9leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFUd0hVVE16TENVUlhiOHBqAR6buJrjEXJjj9Jb59qMKmcGwAyln-uX9QBUV3KEE0krNCe62dOzoCGddwfriw_aem_yaShXYNS060_JV6E6mciWg
  4. 1-24 for the first seven guys in the lineup. Who needs hitting? We rock.
  5. Well yes, NO one is Mookie! But all the negative comments I've read about RD come either from the front office, or their yes-men (will fleming, for example). I wouldn't believe Breslow if he told me the sun will rise tomorrow.
  6. Giving away your best hitter, All-star for nothing? Hell no, except for those, of course, who drink the usual RS cool-aid of bad-mouthing employees they let go.
  7. No. Why is this difficult? You do not 'get better' by getting rid of one of your top players for nothing. (Even when you bad-mouth him and create narratives painting him as a villain--the typical RS strategy for employees they abandon)
  8. Well. I've been a Sox fan maybe a year or two less than you have (can't recall whether I sang Sweet Caroline at age 2 or not), and true they have sucked. But these last few years are the first when I thought that ownership was indifferent to winning, although yes Yawkee was a racist s***, and would rather have a bad white team than a better one with black players; Henry, no racist, has his own version: he'd rather be a mediocre or losing team making money than a great or even historic team making less money.
  9. It would help to get strike calls on those two really good pitches (ok, pitch 1, good as it was, was likely inside). But since umpires are judged by how well their calls conform to robocalls, JUST USE THE ROBOTS.
  10. Any of the big 3 of Hendrix blows all of these away. (responding to original post; Moon got Experience (i would have listed Axis) and of course Velvet Underground.)
  11. Looks like for MLB hitters, 100mph alone is not enough. (Though some of those pitches seemed well located.)
  12. Ah yes, Devers was a bad team-mate, and Terry Francona was a drug addict, and Mookie didn't want to play in Boston, and Manny wasn't a team guy, and Eovaldi and Bogey were greedy and Nomar was selfish and Clemens and Boggs were washed up and and and ...
  13. Again, FO version, not Devers' version. And I don't believe any team-mate has said this.
  14. No evidence for this, except that which originated with the front office.
  15. I'm told the easiest way to deal with this is to put a cup or bowl over the hole. Apparently, they don't have the wherewithal to dig themselves out, and you won't be putting nasty poisons into the lawn.
  16. And he will use the word 'alignment' 15 times, a word that will only get less meaningful with each repetition.
  17. There is NO WAY JH hires two GMs and says 'Do what you think is best'; Bloom: "well sir, I'm going to trade your best player for peanuts". JH: "Great. It's your call." Breslow: 'Well, sir, given how great the Mookie trade worked, I'm going to trade your best player again for even less.' JH: "Wow, Never would have thought of that, but gee it's your call.'
  18. I just read a post above claiming that the RS did not need either Devers or Bregman. Was that authored by JH's yacht designer?
  19. Breslow is now in the position where he can throw up his hands and say (as usual) 'well, we put a team together, but the guys just didn't perform up to expectations. ' You know, like Meyer hitting 80 HR, Roman Anthony hitting .300; Campbell leading the league in stolen bases; Duran winning the triple crown; Houck winning the Cy Young. Obviously the players' fault.
  20. He does! But only if you pick him up wrong.
  21. true enough, And I do that, generally to watch LAD, SD, or SF, where all my favorite players now play!
  22. Ha ha! Apparently, RS fans believe now (as they have historically) that if you bad-mouth a player or manager you have traded or effectively thrown out, then all the lame-ass things that management tells you will magically be true.
  23. One can like the trade or hate the trade or have other more nuanced reactions, but it is ludicrous to suggest that the RS are a better team w/o Devers than they were with him.
  24. Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier just to go watch minor league line-ups in Worcester or Portland?
  25. Damn, Mr. Max, you're like the Lion in Wiz of Oz holding his tail and repeating: "We don't need hitting; we don't we don't we don't ..."
