    anyone who did not experience the Dick Stuart years (or was it year?) has NO grounds for talking about bad fielding. (I can't remember, but was Don Buddin still at SS when Stuart came over? What a combination!)

    Ah. Don't know anything about him except what I see on MLB stats (What do the RS owe him? not 10 of his 40million contracct, right? Still baffled. Bernadino was reliable and cheap. Someone is going to have to pitch those innings ... did they just become 10x as expensive?). Is the thinking that Bernadino wasn't worth a roster spot?

    Don't understand whythey got rid of Bernadino. Now you're going to have to waste a lot of time and effort finding someone to take care of all those innings.

    So the sports execs making millions hooking up with gamblers apparently realize the only way to prove how morally pure they are is by scapegoating some no-account employees. Half-a-million bail for (I forget which one). And of course, like all of you, I am SHOCKED and OUTRAGED that sports leagues hooking up with gamblers could ever have led to such dastardly deeds as this.

    This is why I absolutely DESPISE this management. All that idiotic chest-thumping (NO WAY WE GIVE YOU 8 million, you chump. Here's 7.8 million! Take it or leave it!) for no reason. (Similar b.s. with Devers--bad-mouthing him out the door, just as they did Francona years ago). Look, as a boss, you may like a deal, you may hate it. But you at least PRETEND to be happy and supportive of those who work for you. Treating employees like enemies may be good for your testosterone levels, but it's not going to make anyone want to work for you.

    Team option, I think. (What was the point of bidding him down $250?? Just a show of power? Anyone know? Why not just say "Great to have you with us! We're lucky to get you at that price!" and start off on the right foot?)

    Of course. You can have a great series on the high school level. But you won't see Mookie, or Shohei, or Yamamota. Btw, I aagree entirely about the stress of watching--I knew by the third inning there was NO WAY I wanted to go through that. I went to sleep. LAD was no worse off by virtue of me sleeping through it, but I was MUCH better off.

    You mean by showcasing the best players and winning the most games , by selling out a 50,000+ stadium, and selling more gear than any other team? By bringing in the best international players along with their millions of fans? and generating more revenue than any other team? And providing two of the greatest performances in baseball history by players in a World Series? You need to put down whatever you're smoking and buy season tix to the Marlins.

    Amazing series! I thoiught Ohtani was teh best pitcher I'd seen until I saw Yamamoto= Love teh Dodgers, since I lived so long in LA, and saw real close what happens when you move from a cheap-aass owner who cares only about profits (McCourt--when I got to LA, the common phtrase was "it's ONLY the Dodgers') to a group that cares about winning and its fans. (Also, of course, because I like to see great RS players play, and this is often a good place to find them!)

    Wbere's the WSeries thread? It's not possible that RS fans are brooding over trades and salaries and xWAR while missing some of the greatest baseball ever played by some of the greatest players who ever played, is it?

    I see the typical RS faan is out in force today: bad-mouth guys who left. Because really, who wants to watch an MVP at work, or, say, a guy who hits over 100 RBI, or put up with a manager like Francona? Such a fan is like a 10-year-old obsessed with trading away all the stuff he's gotten bored with.

    Under McCourt, the Dodgers were MISERABLE and if you bothered to go (not many people did), you would see fans leaving and arriving at the same time (around the 5th inning). It was a crappy product. Then they spent money and got players like Betts (remember him?) and Ohtani, and now the place is packed, and they're selling gear all over the world. You prefer the Rays business model?

    Breslian Logic always makes my head spin. But since there is rarely a connection between Breslow's words (whatever they mean, if anything) and his thoughts (to the extent that they are at all coherent), it's probably not worthwhile to critique either.

    What's the problem? Breslow just said he'll sign both Bregman and Bellinger for what he saved from Devers, which is FANTASTIC, since both apparently have agreed to deep discounts and will be signing at about 15mil/year! Eaat your hearts out, haters!
