Yeah, my comment wasn't well-timed, was it? But hey, I had to say SOMETHING to get him going. -
Exactly what purpose does it serve running Duran out there game after game? He's been consistently below the Mendoza line, despite all the quirks of his set-up and on again off again exagerated leg kick, Nothing about his approach suggests he will improve this year. Sit him and hope for better things in the future.

Both miss 7 games of salary, which I'm pretty sure is more important to them than how many 'starts' they lose.

If Bregman was such a GREAT fielder and a GREAT team player and a GREAT 'willing-to-sacrifice' sort of guy, then the obvious question is 'WTF didn't HE move to first base?' The RS FO has offered not a shred of evidence to refute the obvious interpretation that the plan was to unload Rafy's contract all along and to 'Tito' his departure by pushing the 'bad team-mate' bs, so that the fans (many of whom are here) would support the boy genius/flunkie Yalie presumably in charge. -
I don't know, Contreras coming off one ejection and then tossing helmets and all that wrassling around, both guys getting 7 seems about right. Won't hurt us, who suck with or without him. But I don't want to be waatching every game wondering whether C will snap. Cavalli apologized (and who gives a f. whether sincere or not), Con claimed not to know there were any racist implications ... So fine. Let's play what little baseball is left.

Well, at least Cavalli said all the right things post-game and later, and so did Contreras. So maybe just let it go and play baseball. (Although of course what the RS are doing now, with occasional exceptions, doesn't appear to be baseball at all.)

Again, no Yoshida?? To give Eaton (.200) and Romy (.143) more ABs, I suppose? Both batting right, so those averages are likely lower. Back when I played team sports, we had this weird convention that you played your best players, and if you weren't the best, you worked hard until you were. But I guess putting your best players on the field is just way too passé for a cutting edge team like this.

Agreed. But that a-hole will wake up as a racist s*** tomorrow no matter what happens. As for Contreras, every manager has to be thinking "Hmm. You mean I can get my opponent's best hitter tossed by throwing inside and maybe saying something to him? ...Hell. Go for it."

Actually, hockey refs are fine and pretty well respected. Baseball umpires are BAD because 50% of the time, the calls are not what you want them to be.

Can't recall, but I think I heard earlier this year that tapping the helmet was an automatic ejection--same as arguing balls and strikes.

Oh well. Abreu doesn't suck; Durbin probably had never seen a throw that bad in his career and thus had nothing to go on; Chapman doesn't suck ... But it really came together on that play! (Btw Yoshi and Duran don't suck either).

What was Durbin doing on that pplay? He looked like he was deliberately avoiding the ball.

As usual, Cole pitches and Devers hits two dingers.

He was 0-4 with two Ks, and is hitting .198. Yoshida was 2-3 with a dinger, having a bad year and still hitting around .250. Yes Duran 'should' be leading off, but in order to do that, he 'should' be hitting a lot better thana he is.

"challenge skill' is an idiotic one to develop, since the system will likely be changed in a year or so anyway. How about using that time to develop skills in, say, hitting or fielding.
