  1. Sell? And what will they do with all the money they get?
  2. You're right: not wanting to pay an employee market value is not complicated math, it's simple math by an organization that didn't give a f*ck what the fans (their custiomers) thought.
  3. Not to mention the fact that many of us like watching Betts play. We like seeing other humans play--human beings like Bogey and Devers. We don't watch numbers: dWAR or xWAR or fangraph b.s. or Driveline statistics ... that's not why we watch. We don't go to concerts because one group is objectively 'better' than another. That was a point one of the greatest coaches ever insisted on: Popovich always said that his players were human beings and you had to treat and judge them that way. They don't teach that at Yale.
  4. Wow. I watched the first 6 or 7 innings, and that looked like a loss all the way. But yeah, the non-HR call was completely mysterious; the damn ball disappeared over the wall and bounced back. Unless there was something completely screwed up about the video, I don't see how they could possibly have called that a 2b.
  5. Another way of putting that is the version that claimed he was willing to change positions if they were willing to make him their 1B (essentially what SF did), but he wasn't willing to put in the time to learn a new position if it was just to serve as a placeholder for a Mendoza-line hitter.
  6. I imagine one thing that's screwing B up is listening to his head churn out crap like this!
  7. Look at the positives: very unlikely Bello gets a loss tonight!
  8. Wow. Not only new ways of losing, but new ways of ending an inning. Don't believe I've ever seen one end like that.
  9. Lose to get a better draft position? But the best draft position is only one unknown prospect better than the worst draft position. So you're saying that there's one teenager out there who will turn this around? I know it's a radical thought, but if you want to get better, keep your best players.
  10. ? Sox value is in the billions. And I''m sure there are plenty of consortia that would be willing to make them the next Dodgers,
  11. Which of the many explnations (a number of which I've read) do you mean? Im sure those who speak of it are sure it works and those hitters who believe they aare practicing it may get some benefit. But whatever they are doing, they are NOT doing what they say they are doing.
  12. I believe that's Rice speaking. But whatever he means by "hit the top of the ball" it does not mean "hit the top of the ball." I wish I knew what hitting coaches mean by that, or how hitters interpret it. But 'hitting the top of the ball' in a literal (i.e., acc. to physics) will result in nothing but a ground ball.
  13. There is no such thing as a natural 'closer' any more than there's such a thing as a 'natural position'. Rivera, Chapman, Koji ... these were great pitchers, who honed their skills for one-inning work.
  14. Because ... because ... you know! ... HER EMAILS!!
  15. Not scheduling a game on Memorial Day is EPIC!!
  16. RS, pretty much last in the league in hitting, fix that problem by getting ... Tyron Guerrero?
  17. Wong was basically walking toward second base. If he'd been running, he would have safe at home by miles.
  18. Just release Yoshi. FO is convinced he sucks, even though he's outhitting all but 1 or 2 others on the team. Maybe do a Devers and start promulgating rumors about what a bad team-mate he is. Maybe say he refused to change positions. Maybe do a Francona and say he has alcohol and marital problems. Don't worry. The sycophantic Breslow fans will support whatever you do.
  19. What are they saying the recovery on tht is? I believe 'sports hernias' are more serious than the garden-variey hernia tht likely many of us had. But the reg. hernia? I felt I was completely healed in a month. (and I'm basically 100 years old).
  20. Not worth the effort to figure out, since the challenge system will be gone soon anyway (I'm surprised I don't mind it aas much as I thought), and we'll have a rational system of ABS.
