Sorry I staarted this. I repeat: Devers is my favorite player and I want to see him play, He's not playing. His K rate is way higher as a DH than it's been, and my 'eye-test'? I've seen him put in some of the worst at bats this spring than I've ever seen. Taking pitches right down the middle, and swinging wildly at bad pitches (and not just the high fb he's always had trouble with). I agree, last year he was hurt. But not now. If I were managing (and I'm not), I would run him out there at 3rd a couple of times a week, just to keep his head in the game. It's pretty hard to stay in shape (mentally or physically) sitting on your butt--something he has never done in his career. (And trust me, there is nothing I would rather have happen than to hve you traash-talk me in triumph when he leads the team in hitting.)

Devers is my favorite player--probably since I saw him in Portland, But this DH b.s.? it's not working. I'd rather see him traded to anywhere he can play 3B (or first--just get him on the field instead of brooding in the dugout). He shows no sign of recovering from being jerked around this spring.

When did Duran develop that silly toe-tap? a technique almost guaranteed to make you unbalanced at least half the time. (I first noticed it years ago when D. Nava came up with that and went from being a respectable hitter to a bust.) Just watching Bregman--absolute still and balanced,; reminds me of the way Manny set up.

OK. TOTALLY my fault for screwing up the game thread. I just ... I just ... well, you know, thinking of bunnies and raptures then all that 420 stuff ... I just lost focus! I'm off until the next losing streak, which I hope does not start today.

Sometimes the bats go cold, and sometimes pitchers can't even let the dog out to pee. But what was most alarming last night was the defensive collapse (meaning those presumed stalwarts: Story, Bregman, Duran, joined also by Casas and Narvaez).
