  1. As I said. You're a Bloom fan. (What I mean by this is that you judge players as machines that can be evaluated by metrics, many of which claim to be quantitative. I look at them as human beings I get attached to and enjoy watching play. )
  2. Wow. I guess the old adage about 'the ball will find you' is true.
  3. In other words, you're a Bloom fan. Personally, I'd rather be watching generational talents like Betts every night, and productive players I've grown to like like Bogaerts, Benintendi, Vasquez, etc, rather than presumed bargains like Story and Kluber. If that means a billionaire spends more of his money, I don't give a crap.
  4. All? Oh. I see what you mean. I don't think all his decisions were bad, of course--he was well-dressed, polite to reporters, and doubtless brought good people into the organization we've never heard of. The decisions I'm thinking of are the obv. ones: getting rid of popular players, signing players with questionable health and legal issues apparently in hopes of getting a bargain, gobbledegook on what the 'plan' was, etc.
  5. The problem is we have no idea what Henry "mandated." Thus, we use the name "Bloom" to refer to all of the personnel decisions made since he got here. I don't care who made those decisions as long as the RS now essentially have stated that they were bad ones.
  6. You believe a $200 million player can hit over .180?
  7. Reset!!!!
  8. OK. RS need better defense, base-running and 'situational hitting'. I don't think anyone here or in RS organization disagrees. That's the easy part. Now: exactly which available players do you wish to get who will do that and how will you get them? And which players will you get rid of because they are thought not to be doing that?
  9. Maybe. Reyes is a career .260 hitter. Story and Urias are right now hitting .183. Doesn't sound like a good hitting middle infield to me. Even Story's stellar defense can't make up for this.
  10. Maybe you should explain that, since most English speakers would see that these are two completely different statements.
  11. Sure he can! He cut salary, got cheap players (Verdugo/Story) for expensive ones (Betts/Bogaerts), put an entertaining product on the field (who doesn't love a game with two dozen runs?), and even got the team over .500. His boss made tons of money. What's the problem?
  12. Totally! I also think LAD will agree to trade Betts for Verdugo, and SD will trade Bogaerts for Story.
  13. Just turned the game on to watch the run-down. Yikes.
  14. Has the RS season deteriorated to such a point that we are now discussing (in part, unironically it seems) the issue of whether having better players makes for a better team?
  15. When I saw Devers in AA, I was impressed most by his fielding (he 'looked' like a major-leaguer, which not all players in AA do). I didn't know he had a reputation as a hitter. So I'm fine with his fielding. [And btw, Moon, you know perffectly well that no one here gives a cr*p about what anyone else says, will say, or has said in the past. Why would they?]
  16. Oh right. We had this discussion a month ago (or someone did). I was arguing the reverse of what I just posted, right? THus making it impossible to determine whether either of us is being ironic.
  17. I'd be happy to! ... (What did I do?)
  18. I really hope Devers works with a hitting instructor this winter so he stops missing 95 mph fast balls right in the middle of the zone like that.
  19. "fewer" words. You can't post crap like the above on the INTERNET and expect to get away with it! And agreeing w/ another poster??? Where do you get off on that?
  20. Didn't they have a journeyman KC pitcher with an ERA of over 5 two nights ago?
  21. Maybe RS could trade him for a bunch of prospects.
  22. You can't fix short; in players or in spouses.
  23. Yeah sure, but you know, hindsight is 20/20. No one at the time of the trade could have predicted Mookie would be any good.
