  1. OMG! Including the Don Buddin years? Not to mention Dick Stuart (who was a bit later).
  2. On a positive note, I'm really glad I thought this game started at 7.
  3. Isn't that expected? If there are no runners on base or in scoring position, that is at least in part because the pitcher is doing better than when the bases are full? Do you have any stats for that in general?
  4. You mean better than Tom Yawkey? (a pretty low bar)
  5. Mookie did NOT kill OJ's wife.
  6. It's the radio with the video on delay for me. I am truly afraid of brain degeneration resulting from listening to Youk.
  7. Ha! I just took you off block to agree 100% with you and Moon on this.
  8. Naw, there's much better value checking the police blotter and injury reports.
  9. Well, I guess now we know. Also, we have that doubt about which athletes it's ok to root for cleared up.
  10. Nice to see that RS tv announcers do not know the rule about when a ball is considered caught.
  11. I don't really see anything in this post that a few weeks in a "Reading Comprehension" course or maybe 8 months in therapy shouldn't solve.
  12. One of the bizzareries of sports boards is that the most bland and obvious statements (e.g., new employees try to do their jobs as best they can) are met with incomprehensible outrage and cryptic objections so subtle and abstruse only those who post two dozen times a day can understand them.
  13. Well, since every other human I know who has gone into administration has tried to do that--put their stamp on the organization, 'make their mark'--then absolutely yes. I could rephrase what you just said "Do you seriously think Bloom was NOT trying to make a mark?" So yes, the Betts trade probably brought him more fame than anything else. (It was great to see the ovation Betts got; and especially good to see how much of it was coming from Red Sox players.)
  14. Well, BLoom wanted to make his mark with that trade and he certainly did.How he still has a job is beyond me, but I suppose it's because this is what he was hired to do and be: pay-roll cutting and taking the fall for ownership.
  15. Oh God, was this one of those a-hole appeals to some 'unwritten rule' that you can't swing at a 3-0 pitch because ... because ... oh I forget why but ...
  16. No no no! She's going to hook up with me. I just KNOW it. It's in her interest and she'll realize that ... well, maybe not today ... but soon ... maybe in another year or ... well ... at some point ...
  17. None that I know. But most posters here shouldn't be hitting on anyone 25-29 either.
  18. If you have to ask the Mom how old the chick you're hitting on is, DON'T HIT ON HER. (It's not a complicated principle, but a fairly straight-forward one).
  19. Yes he was, and he seems to have been a model citizen since (except for a couple of incidents this season, which in fact surprised me). But he was still under a cloud when he was signed. This isn't about Verdugo/McQuire/Franco. It's about the opportunities Bloom sees for getting players cheap, without consideration of what it is that makes them cheap.
  20. Let's see: Verdugo, McQuire ... Sounds like a perfect Bloom signing to me.
  21. RS base-runners doing their thing again.
  22. OMG the only strike Bieber has thrown--right down the middle and Rafy takes it-
  23. The only line-up change I would make is for Yoshi to bat 1-9.
  24. He doesn't seem EVER to throw a strike, or ever have to.
