  1. Ha ha! (Since a number of your countrymen that I have met come from Quebec, I'm not sure I can entirely agree!)
  2. I'm not telling you what to do, except maybe read posts more closely so tht you can understand what they are saying. I'm simply expressing shock that you regard sports boards as so important that you won't meet fellow posters. (Sorry to have used subordinate clauses there.) And btw, all you lesser beings out there: if you're in Maine this summer and want to catch a SeaDogs game, give me a ring. Troll or legend, I don't care, as long as (1) you're a RS fan, and (2) you're not a belligerent drunk (garden variety ones are ok), a sexist, racist, homophobe, or loud obnoxious a-hole. The fried bread is on me.
  3. You wouldn't meet a guy you've been having conversations with here for years??? WTF! Posting on a sports board is the most important thing in your life and world? And those who do not follow the unstated conventions you demand of everyone; i.e., that they agree entirely with what you say and remain cowed by your alpha-dog (we're talking sports here) delusions are to be cast out of that world like demons?? (oh God, whatever you do, don't throw me in that briar patch ... )
  4. I'm lost. So our FO burner-account contingent (plural) has moved on from justifying Betts' departure to lamenting the signing of those who had success here (Foulke) and longing wistfully albeit hypothetically for a former player's cancer? And I suppose their deniability is such that it now extends to their own unambiguous statements made 5 minutes earlier?
  5. ... and demonstrates that, rather than making speeches about it.
  6. True enough. But what I as a fan want is a line-up I recognize from year to year, not one that replaces one set of familiar journeymen with another set of unknown ones. (As for stars, maybe keeping the ones you have.)
  7. I was thinking of that as the same incident, but you're right, they were separate. I had been a big fan of JBJ before that, and never gave a cr*p about him since.
  8. OMG! Tyler Freaking Heinemann!!!!! Now that Theo is back, big things afoot.
  9. But then again, as a fan, I lost all respect for and interest in him after the Eck incident. I don't care what his stats are, were, or could have been. And I imagine there are a lot of fans (not so many on this board) who judge players in similar ways. We (if there are more like me) don't judge players as stat sheets or tokens in a fantasy league.
  10. Dewey-- I still owe you those SeaDogs tix I promised (Bell too, but I believe he lives way across the Bay somewhere). Covid sucked for socializing. (And no fear; I wouldn't know a Sox prospect or their xWAR if it bit me in the ass.). j
  11. Then there was SBF, who as I recall wasn't really a troll, just a belligerent, abusive a-hole.
  12. I'll need to see results. My skepticism is due to what I've seen in all corporations, including the one I worked in: Whenever there is an announcement about radical improvements, greater investment, etc., the first (and generally only) thing ownership does is hire more administrators.
  13. Wow. With the amount of intellectual energy that has been expended on this board, obviously a number of us must have seen this coming ... anyone?
  14. Alas, most positive things about this team and its recent history are forced to make excessive use of the subjunctive.
  15. I think I may have found the object of my search!
  16. I'd rather spend time reading the trolls than trying to figure out which of the RS apologists is actually an intern in the FO.
  17. Well, you know RS players always get to start their golf season at the end of September.
  18. It's really hard to believe either Bloom or Breslow did not know exactly what they were getting into. You'd have to believe, say, that the topic of the budget never came up in the interview. That the names Betts or Ohtani were never mentioned.
  19. Absolutely! If the team is worth only 1.7 billion plus, can't take a hit like that.
  20. Whew. Snell and Montgomery gone! It's ridiculous to pay anyone more than the minimum.
  21. You need to work on your irony. But meanwhile, we can all celebrate that turner signed elsewhere! Another 13million for ownership.
  22. Greenwell at C was one of the GREAT moments in RS history! And the bastuds bunted on him.
  23. Why wouldn't I want to see them in Portland instead?
  24. No love for that DUI-toting racist f*ck Pinky Higgins?
  25. Yes. Yes. And yes.
