  1. Ah yes, the old "back to the police blotter" routine. But let's go big. I hear Franco is now out on bail.
  2. I suppose, as the RS head for another last-place finish, we should all be celebrating that we didn't overpay anyone to get there.
  3. Hmm. Grim thought as it applies to RS. What you're saying is that the 'business' at some point means no more than, say, some investment my bank or broker makes. It's just money and means nothing that affects one emotionally or viscerally (and thus someone like JH can just keep going happily as long as the $ keeps coming in).
  4. I have a question for the small-business owners on this forum: when you feel indifference toward your product and contempt for your customers, do you still keep going? Is, say, the desire to make money and the interest of dealing with employees etc. enough? Serious question. In all my work-related experience, when I get to this point, I either quit or move on to something else.
  5. Anyone remember or witness Mike Greenwell's stint at C?
  6. Well ... I mean ... like ... ... What?
  7. Hey you guys, get off my damn lawn!
  8. Dodger Stadium lost all its appeal for me when they stopped offering Jodi Maroni's. They are at least working on some public transportation options (one, I believe, requires a mile or so walk, but that's way better than driving there and enduring their nightmarish parking lot).
  9. Here's something on which we can all agree!
  10. My contract with John Henry has a non-disclosure clause.
  11. Or maybe get rid of some?
  12. How did RS PR employees get on this site?
  13. I'm never angry at the number of apologists justifying what the rich and powerful do. I'm just surprised they have nothing better to do with their intellects.
  14. I'm just glad the JH apologists are willing to pony up their cash for gear and season tickets, so those skeptics like myself can watch this train-wreck of an organization for free.
  15. Correct. The RS are an absolutely unique organization, and none of the rules that apply to all other businesses apply to them. As for the customers? (fans), just read my signature line. (i.e., pay up and stop complaining).
  16. I wonder if fans here feel the same about other forms of entertainment: 'Oh well, that movie sucked, but the studio is saving for a blockbuster next year"; 'yeah, the concert sucked, but there's no way they can or should pay top dollar for a guitarist'; 'the food is awful and pricey, but they're training a new chef' 'I went to the Farmers Market and there was nothing there, but you know, gardening is hard and takes many years to learn' ...
  17. LAD will never trade with Boston, knowing how they got fleeced the last time.
  18. Better profits; lower overhead.
  19. "We" did not save any money; nor do "we" have a secret budget. Ownership saved money; we have a worse product because of it.
  20. Wow. Ownership apologists out in force for the new year! But I agree entirely that multi-billionaires always deserve the benefit of the doubt. Because how could they have all that money if they weren't more virtuous than the rest of us?
  21. ??? I tend not to distrust factual claims that require extensive use of the subjunctive.
  22. We can hope!
  23. Sounds like a great acquisition. What's his rap sheet like?
  24. Nope. It doesn't. Because you give a different argument each time, generally involving speculations of how the team will be in the future, long after we're all dead. (or perhaps something involving abstruse dvdRWAR+ calculations).
