  1. Where? I couldn't find it and I spent a reasonable amount of time lookjing for it!
  2. Wbere's the WSeries thread? It's not possible that RS fans are brooding over trades and salaries and xWAR while missing some of the greatest baseball ever played by some of the greatest players who ever played, is it?
  3. I see the typical RS faan is out in force today: bad-mouth guys who left. Because really, who wants to watch an MVP at work, or, say, a guy who hits over 100 RBI, or put up with a manager like Francona? Such a fan is like a 10-year-old obsessed with trading away all the stuff he's gotten bored with.
  4. Under McCourt, the Dodgers were MISERABLE and if you bothered to go (not many people did), you would see fans leaving and arriving at the same time (around the 5th inning). It was a crappy product. Then they spent money and got players like Betts (remember him?) and Ohtani, and now the place is packed, and they're selling gear all over the world. You prefer the Rays business model?
  5. To me, it's that "Yale-speak", which has always irritated the crap out of me.
  6. Breslian Logic always makes my head spin. But since there is rarely a connection between Breslow's words (whatever they mean, if anything) and his thoughts (to the extent that they are at all coherent), it's probably not worthwhile to critique either.
  7. What's the problem? Breslow just said he'll sign both Bregman and Bellinger for what he saved from Devers, which is FANTASTIC, since both apparently have agreed to deep discounts and will be signing at about 15mil/year! Eaat your hearts out, haters!
  8. Didn't Mike return a salary from a Japanese team because he had played so badly for them? RIP
  9. Yet we also saw during the playoffs that we need more hitting. 6 runs won't win many three-game series, no matter who is on the mound.
  10. Agree totally. But what likely wasnt right (remember his opening two dozen ABs?) was likely because the organization he came up with started jerking him around as early as spring training, then when he was raking again, they got rid of him, bad-mouthing him the entire time and disseminating rumors (with no evidence) that he was a 'bad team-mate'.
  11. How about a left-handed power bat who, in an off year, hits 35 HR and 115 RBIs?
  12. Yeah, too bad the RS didn't have, say, a left-handed power hitter w/ 115 RBIs and 35 HR and a proven track record against the Yankees. I mean, where do you even find guys like that?
  13. You mean, like one of the teams winning two games in a row? Yeah, I think that's possible.
  14. Stop repeating the management line. One of those supposed deadwoods had a crappy year and still hit 35 hr and 105 RBI
  15. Why not 100%? Just use ROBO umps all the time, since ROBO umps under the challenge system are unerringly correct by definition. Adding challenge drama is unnecessary, time-consuming, and irritating as hell.
  16. Except I do not agree this is better than nothing. This just adds a layer of 'administration'; sort of like saying 'we need more doctors and nurses; let's hire an insurance company.'
  17. I realize the Robo-Ump case has been argued ad nauseum, so I will simply vent here as MLB announces the WORST solution--one that combines all the negative aspects of human umps with all the negative aspects of Roboump. Nothing like delaying things for an idiotic 'challenge', which will lead announcers to say equally idiotic things '' GREAT challenge!" or "Do you want to use your challenge now?" Who gives a crap. If you are going to judge balls and strikes electroniclly (through the challenge) and judge umpires by how well their calls reflect the electronic call, JUST GO WITH ROBO-UMPS for God's sake.
  18. I felt the same way when the RS had 2nd and 3rd and 1 out in the 10th a few nights ago. Why pitch to (who was it? Eaton? Sogard?) to ANYONE? Just walk the bases loaded setting up the force at home.
  19. Even if you hate this team, (and I sure do--the first time I find myself actively rooting against them in the last half-century--well, maybe the second time given the Valentine year), I don't see how to deny the fact that they are 14 games over .500--way more successful than many of the teams we've loved in the past.
  20. Lucky to get the K given that only one of the 5 pitches was in the zone.
  21. Come on, man. You're expecting professional athletes to be as bad-ass tough as you are. And of course, that's just not the case.
  22. would you review Ferreira's c.v. above and explain, slowly and clearly so that we understand, exactly what you see there that makes her unqualified. Because I see only one detail there that might send a certain class of fans into a tizzy.
  23. Raphaela may never see a strike again. Why throw him one?
