    Umpires got it right. Wong stops and takes his mask off--he is no longer going for the ball, but trying to get back to home. So, alas, obstruction. Note that Cora did not argue it.

    This explains (in part) why in any shot of fans, regardless of what is going on on the field, a third or so are engrossed in their cell-phones.

    Jesus! Since the ump themselves are graded according to how well their calls reflect whatever electronic system is used, JUST USE THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. We don't watch baseball to determine who the best ump is.

    I love the in-game interviews simply because they usually go wrong. But watching Casas answer really insensitive questions with grace made me a fan. And Raphaela? Damn. Didn't seem to distract his fielding much, no?

    At about that age, I gave up my athletic career (which looked better on paper than on the field) as my weight got to 190. I stopped drinking and then got a job on a fishing boat. I lost 60 pounds that summer and have maintained that weight for the last 58 years.

    Such a b.s. mis-use of replay. That runner would be safe for 150 years. If you bounce in the middle of a slide and you are over the base you should be safe. No way that would be an out on the field. Replay should not be looking for things human umpires can't see or don't give a cr*p about.

    I haven't forgotten anything. I just don't see any significant difference between trading a guy away for nothing or not resigning them at market value. But apparently, some fans see a CRUCIAL difference here, such that they can claim there is no relation between Betts and Devers and Bogaerts and Nate and Chris and the Babe of course and every other guy they've managed to get rid of, and therefore there is absolutely nothing to see here. Plus, think of what we've gotten back: a pedophile photographer, a public wanker, a guy who gets pinch-hit for by a .250 hitter, plus all all all that cash.

    So getting Abreu for Vaz makes us forget Devers? Mookie? Xander? Nate? Sale? ...

    I was just going to ask that! Doesn't make me feel any better about losing RD than I did about losing Mookie. But at least the money isn't going to pay for JH's slip fees.

    Why doesn't MLB institute a rule that anyone not in the lineup who comes onto the field in such a 'fracas' is ejected. NFL, NBA, even NHL has this rule. And it will get rid of the silly spectacle of 'bullpens running in."

    How can anyone be disappointed?? It was a WILDLY successful trade-deadline. Henry just wisely pocketed the 30million/yr he saved by unloading Devers. If he'd reinvested that money in the team, how would be feed his family?

    Pretty clear now: the $30mill/year JHenry saved by getting rid of Devers went right into his pocket. He could have re-invested it in the team, but, you know, dockage is expensive.

    And of course telling rookies to toe management line or be prepared to be traded or in their case sent down is IN NO WAY disruptive or intimidating.

    Getting rid of productive players and not replacing them is a GREAT idea for owners looking to save 20-30million/year. Just like the Yankees got FLEECED trading for Ruth, and then went five years without a WS championship.

    Punting for a draft position in MLB is about the worst possible decision and an insult to fans. The reason RS aren't as good as NY, LAD, Toronto, Phillies, Astros and a couple of other teams is that they do not spend enough on players. They could, of course; but they don't. Losing more games is not going to fix the payroll.
