  1. Yeah, that's the spirit; get TOUGH on these guys. After all, we go to see the 'team,' not the players. No one remembers Ted, Yaz, Boggs, or Ortiz. Just bench them, or (as with that egomaniacal deadbeat Betts) trade them away.
  2. I think the room needs to read Raffy: he's the one I pay money to see.
  3. Well, I don't really care what anyone else thinks, and from what little I know of you, I don't imagine you do either! Peace, brother.
  4. I;m thinking Pumpsie Green and Louise Day Hicks for starters.
  5. Yoshida has hit better than most RS starters, who are mired around .250. The anti-Masa rhetoric is hardly explainable from a baseball standpoint, but given Boston's history, it's not surprising.
  6. Just wait for LAD to fill their 40-man roster and have to start waiving veterans. I don't think Mookie has options left, so the RS will be able to pick him up at vet's minimum. Breslow has no imagination.
  7. And ... I guess the Red Sox will be 'over-.500-ish' as well.
  8. Aren't there any right-handed flashers or wife-beaters available?
  9. No it's not!!! I've done my research!!!!
  10. Why would they? They have a voice on the phone who has all of Ohtani's personal info, passwords etc. I have pretty modest income yet I've borrowed or moved money close to that amount, and not once has the bank asked me to come in for a 'sit-down'.
  11. Knowing now, without any trace of a doubt, why their team managed to lose all the games they did over the last decade. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43680990/mlb-upholds-firing-ump-pat-hoberg-gambling-violations
  12. Besides, he did not have the commitment we expect of RS players; I mean BOWLING?? Come on! Couldn't he have used all the time he wasted on that sport to hone his baseball skills a bit?
  13. Bob Tillman! Ah yes. He was great, as I recall ... until opposing pitchers realized after a year or so he could not hit a curveball. (If I remember correctly, tragically enough when he could still hit, one of his hr's hit a kid and I think that kid died. ... Anyone else here remember or can correct me on that?
  14. i guess this is as good a place as any to rant about "framing," which to me is an uninteresting skill that basically amounts to 'ability to cheat'--to make the officials make a bad call. Can't wait for robo-umps to put an end to this b.s. Since MLB and its stat-hounds USE the robo-zone to evaluate both umps (their ability to conform to robo-calls) and catchers (their ability to draw a call different from teh robo-call), why not just use the robo-zone to begin with?
  15. Identify the "one"; that means you. It doesn't mean me, or many others who have looked into this. The more i think about the better the official story offered up seems, largely because the alternatives: (1) provide NO evidence, zero evidence for their claims, (n.b. SHOHEI HAS A WIFE!!!! so? and note that he didn't have one when all this acc. to tin-hat basement dwellers went down) and (2) are generally cast in the subjunctive (he 'probably' has an accountant), and (3) are generally unreasonable and too often the product of unstable minds (not in your case, but in many others)
  16. Even though I don't have many rich friends, a few of those I do claim they have NEVER looked at the details of their bank accounts. Getting ripped off by a 'personal assistant' is very common. But then, what you and I think has absolutely NO bearing on Ohtani, nor does it affect LAD's obvious superiority over the floundering RS. Also, I apologize for the grievous sin of using the hyperbole 'infinitely', since I realize such rhetoric is completely unacceptable on sports boards, and never to be found among the posters here.
  17. On the other hand, if you own a closet full of Gucci bags, I guess it's fine if you buy your socks at Ross' Dress for Less.
  18. Once a competing organization has shown itself superior, the paranoia and conspiratorial fears among RS fans seem boundless. The standard (i.e., official) story behind Ohtani's translator may not satisify one's cynical itch, but it is INFINITELY more reasonable and credible than any of the alternatives posed by disgruntled competing fans, conspiracy-theorists, and (well, I'd rather not use the 'r' word, even though it's applicability to Boston has been proven time and time again).
  19. Yeah, nothing got the faithful into a frenzy like the late-inning walk-up music for Ike Delock.
  20. Some numbers here: 1-5, 5.38, 20million Uh "What is ... a typical RS signing."
  21. ... in addition to police blotters, hospitals, and retirement communities ...
  22. And to think there are those cynics who claim the RS aren't all in for 2025.
  23. Well, I was close: In 1969, Red Sox ticket prices were: Box seats: $6.00 Grandstand: $4.75 General admission: $3.00 Bleachers: $2.00
  24. My recollection is in late 60s, early 70s is $3 for bleachers, walking up to the window. But that could be wrong. It seems too high.
