  1. Exactly right. He was never 'a leader' and the RS traded away many who were: Betts, Bogaerts, Eovaldi ... the list goes on. The arg. that management expected him to fill this role is b.s. They already proved they don't give a rat's a*s about 'leadership'. All they do is find other euphemisms like 'alignment' for 'we want money in ownership pockets and we want employees to be absolutely subservient'.
  2. INSUBORDINATION! You got that right. Whether by an employee, a student, a lower ranking colleague, or worst of all, a child. It's just not acceptable in any walk of life, and needs to be corrected immediately. Like my imaginry kids for example: I just beat the crap out of them until they learn to keep their elbows off the table.
  3. Yes siree. Because businesses should be like the military!! And when you are told to do something by ANYONE higher in the organization than you, then you must DO it! Period. (Wasn't this argument used to great effect at Nuremberg?)
  4. Yeah, just like the bosses in other industries, right? How dare employees suggest they have any rights?
  5. Because trading away star players (Ruth, Betts) has always worked out so well. F*CK this team. I've followed this guy since he played AA in Portland. And I've been a fan of the RS since the early 50s. I hope the SOX lose every game for the rest of the season. I'm just glad for Rafy that he got away from this mess and its duplicitous administrative ways.
  6. Too bad Gonzalez didn't get here in time to pitch. Last time I saw FItts pitch I was amazed at his ability to locate. Maybe he's been aiming for the middle of the plate the whole time, and this latest IL stint gave him time to perfect it.
  7. Ha! Flying in a plane "a friend just built" strikes me as a very bad idea! (Although, I confess, I have a friend who took the maiden voyage in a submarine a local built essentially out of materials 'lying around the shop'.) And I'll be gone the next two weeks as well. So everyone has to step up.
  8. Ball must have taken a bad hop? Hit Narvaez right in the shoulder. (And 'bad bounce' gets error charged to thrower).
  9. reaally unfair to charge abreu with an eroor--great throw!
  10. And then, if you disrregard Rafy's errors,, he's been really good as well.
  11. Why? Can you imagine how bad he would have been there, and how the 'fans' would have reacted? They jerked him around this spring, finally got him to settle in as DH. No way he was going to be put in a new position after that. After all, Bregman is so great, why didn't they put HIM at first and Rafy at third?
  12. I guess I don't know what a 'team leader' is. Was Ted a leader? How about Manny? Sale? Boggs? Did any of the teams you played on or for have a 'leader'? Why should you 'need a leader' in an individual sport like baseball?
  13. And damn, Rafy STILL hasn't 'learned his lesson'!! It's important to discipline him, far more important than, say, winning games.
  14. Did you see the AI post announcing that RS wide-receiver Refsnyder was banned for PEDs?
  15. Damn. Position players must get a lot of work on the mound for Baltimore
  16. What a mistake not sitting Devers to teach him a lesson! He'll just NEVER learn.
  17. Well, since my game thread was coopted a few days ago, I feel that, like Achilles, I should heroically sulk in my tent. Anyone want my armor?
  18. WTF is he starting since every game he does is essentially a "bullpen" game?
  19. HUGE MOVE!!! As Estragon says, "WE"RE SAVED!!!!" https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45273371/red-sox-acquire-1st-baseman-ryan-noda-angels-cash Probably the best .137 hitter available!
  20. Is it really too much for professional pitchers making 20 million/year to understand the rule: "You cannot argue balls and strikes." Also, you cannot make physical contact with an ump. Cora should be fined for that. The rule does not provide an exception if the call was wrong or you didn't like it.
  21. To get thrown out on arguing a B/S call in the 3rd inning is idiotic and completely unprofessional. But then, $20 million apparently doesn't buy much these days.
  22. I missed that. What happened? (Describe it as if you were a Mets fan or, say, a Rockies fan).
  23. Well, let's see. Must be a pinch runner? who then comes up to hit later? Home team then wins and does not come to bat in the 9th?
