    A lot of this is just silly. For example, the only reasons people advocated for Porcello were the assumption he'd come very cheaply and his ability to eat innings would have some value.

    It is and it isn't. Great things were expected of the 2011 team. The first half of the 2021 season was a pleasant surprise and our regression isn't that much of a shock. One thing to watch for, though, is that Henry and Werner might put some pressure on Bloom to make the team a contender for 2022 no matter what it takes, after 3 seasons out of the playoffs.

    The thing about the MVP award is that there is clear precedent for guys on non-contending teams winning it (although they're probably at a disadvantage).

    If he had as much money to work with as the Sox do, that might be a whole other story.

    I'm okay with pitchers throwing inside, or beaning a guy in the backside. No one should be okay with throwing at a hitter's head.
