  1. Dalbec is one of this year's positive stories, with the way he turned it around. It has partly to do, of course, with his cost.
  2. Quite a thread, sir.
  3. Yes, JD has to declare he's opting out before he can negotiate with other teams.
  4. We're still in the hunt because we're a slightly better than average team, and that's enough now to give you a shot at a wild card game.
  5. If he likes the offer.
  6. Nothing ever really changes. Francona and Epstein certainly had their share of detractors too. Armchair wizards gonna armchair...
  7. Would you prefer "He wouldn't catch it"?
  8. Anyway, it does look like Joey Gallo is a choker!
  9. Lack of confidence is in the same ballpark as choking IMHO. Maybe choking is just a bad word.
  10. The Fenway Factor has been massive this year. Red Sox avg runs scored/allowed per game: Home 5.77/4.96 Away 4.33/4.35
  11. This thread was sort of meant to be an experiment. I'd say the results are in. Tom is right, Kimmi is right, Bellhorn is wrong.
  12. Looks like I'm taking the bronze medal here.
  13. I would have replied to your dad, in my best thinker pose: "Sometimes you do. And sometimes you don't."
  14. Our version is the Kenmore Cops.
  15. You had to do some digging and mixing/matching for those bad numbers on Eovaldi LOL
  16. COVID outbreak is officially costing us games. No Pivetta = Kutter Crawford. No Kike = Verdugo in CF.
  17. And you have to question Cash's judgment in a big way on the Gallo trade. Gallo has been unbelievably bad. 61 K's in 151 PA's. Cash said "let's make this one-dimensional offense even more one-dimensional!"
  18. Every inning is tough.
  19. I suppose there's a presumption that Bloom = Rays ways, and the Rays way is not a big muscular DH. But who did the Rays trade for at the deadline? Nelson Cruz.
  20. The issues are different now that we're in September. But if it's earlier in the season, and a rookie is struggling so badly that you can't afford to have him in the lineup any more, you demote him. At least he'll be facing live pitching every day, even if it's not MLB caliber.
  21. There's one I haven't heard before.
  22. All one has to do is look through a few other box scores. Andrew Heaney blew the game in the 7th for the Yankees yesterday in spectacular fashion...
  23. That idea has been floated a lot here. I'm not convinced, in fact I'm very skeptical, that it yield better results than having a bat like Papi or JD in the lineup every day.
  24. The Rays are actually hitting .240, not .220. But it's true that they are scoring more runs than their other numbers suggest they should. They hit into very few DP's, so that might be part of it. Could be some correction coming too.
